You see them ostriches? Big birds, real big. I tell ya, they is somethin’ else. Fluffy, too. Lots of feathers, like a giant pillow with legs. Yeah, fluffy ostriches, that’s what they are. They are the biggest birds in the whole world!
Them ostriches, they got long necks, kinda like a giraffe, but a bird, ya know? And legs, oh boy, them legs! Long and strong, like tree trunks, but skinny. They run real fast, them ostriches. Faster than my old dog, bless his heart. He was a good boy, but no ostrich. These birds, they can really move.
They is so big. So, so big. Bigger than a man. The males, they got black feathers, mostly. And white on the tail. Like they wearin’ a fancy coat. The ladies, they more brown. Like the dirt, but, ya know, fluffy dirt.
And them feet! Two big toes, like claws. They ain’t for flyin’, that’s for sure. They the biggest birds what can’t fly. But they can run. They use them feet for runnin’ and kickin’.
They can kick real hard. If a lion or somethin’ comes after ’em, BAM! One kick and that lion’s gonna be sorry. Strong legs, them ostriches. Real strong. Good for runnin’ away from them mean animals.
They say them ostriches, the fluffy ostrich, they been around a long, long time. Longer than me, and I’m old! They was here when them dinosaurs was walkin’ around. Can you believe it? These big, fluffy birds, runnin’ around with dinosaurs. That’s somethin’ to think about.
They eat plants, mostly. Seeds and things. They got a long neck to reach down and get ’em. They don’t need much water neither. Tough birds, they are. Live in hot places, where it’s dry.
You ever see an ostrich egg? Big, real big. Bigger than a chicken egg, that’s for sure. Could feed a whole family with one ostrich egg. I reckon they taste good, but I ain’t never tried one.

I heard tell some folks even try to ride ’em. Can you imagine? Ridin’ an ostrich! Sounds kinda crazy to me. But I guess some folks like that kinda thing. Me, I’ll stick to watchin’ ’em from afar. They is big, I tell ya. And them kicks is powerful.
Them scientists, they even study them ostrich feet. Say they like springs. Help ’em run fast and not get hurt. Smart folks, them scientists. Figurin’ out how them ostriches work. Nature’s somethin’ else, ain’t it? Makin’ a bird that big and that fast.
So next time you see a picture of a fluffy ostrich, you remember what I told ya. They ain’t just big birds. They survivors. Been around forever, practically. And they can run like the wind and kick like a mule. Respect the ostrich, I say. Respect the ostrich.
I remember one time, I saw a show on the TV about them. They was showin’ how they run. Zoom! Just like that, across the field. Faster than any car I ever seen. And them babies, little fluffy things, runnin’ after their mama. Cute, they was.
They say that Somali Ostrich, used to be part of the normal Ostrich. But they ain’t no more. They split up, like me and my old man did years back. But these birds split up millions of years ago. They been doin’ their own thing for a long time now, them ostriches.
