Is the Vintage Coach Jade Casey Bag Worth Buying?

by Joyce Mackintosh

Alright, let’s gab about this here “vintage coach jade casey” thing, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ them city folk would carry. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just a plain ol’ woman who knows a thing or two about, well, things.

So, from what I gather, this “vintage coach” stuff is all about old purses. Like, real old, from back in the day. They call ’em “bags” now, I guess. Back in my time, a bag was a bag, somethin’ you carried potatoes in. But these here coach bags, they’re different, see?

They say some of these bags were made way back when, like in the 70s. Imagine that! That’s when I was just a young’un, chasin’ chickens around the farm. They had this “saddle bag” then, looked like somethin’ you’d put on a horse, but smaller, I reckon. Made of leather, too. Leather’s tough stuff, lasts a long time if you take care of it.

Then there’s this “casey” bag, they say it came out in 1990. That ain’t so long ago, but I guess for them young folks, it’s ancient history. They say it’s a popular one, this casey. People like it. Why? I dunno. Looks like a purse to me.

  • Now, some folks say these old bags are worth somethin’. Like, real money. Can you believe it? Payin’ good money for an old, used bag!
  • But then I hear other folks sayin’ they ain’t worth much at all. Says “coach don’t have high resale value”. Goes to show, you can’t believe everything you hear.

If you’re gonna buy one of these old bags, they say you gotta look at the “condition.” That means if it’s all beat up or not. If it’s got holes and scratches, it ain’t worth much, I reckon. But if it’s been taken care of, cleaned up and all, then maybe it’s worth somethin’. Common sense, really.

I saw this fella on the internet, he cut up one of these bags to see how it was made. Said he wanted to see the “quality.” Seems like a waste to me, cuttin’ up a perfectly good bag, but I guess that’s how they do things these days. He said the leather was good, though. So there’s that.

And them young movie stars, they like these old bags, too. Carryin’ ’em around like they’re somethin’ special. Makes you wonder, don’t it? Why all the fuss about an old bag? Maybe it’s like them fancy old cars, the older they get, the more people want ’em. Who knows?

They say some of these bags, they hold their value, and some don’t. It depends on what kind it is, when it was made, and what it’s made of. They talk about “market value” and “authentic pieces.” Sounds complicated to me. I just know if somethin’s well-made, it’ll last. That’s all that matters, right?

Oh, and one more thing. They say these coach bags were never made in Korea. Don’t know why that’s important, but I heard it, so I’m tellin’ ya. Probably some kinda fancy city folk thing.

So, there you have it. My two cents on this “vintage coach jade casey” business. If you like it, buy it. If you don’t, don’t. Life’s too short to worry about fancy bags, I always say. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
