Born Again Christian Dior: What Does This Phrase Actually Mean?

by Marvin Connie

This here thing, “Born Again Christian Dior,” what’s that all about? I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it, and it got me thinkin’. Sounds like somethin’ fancy, but what’s it really mean?

Born Again Christian Dior: What Does This Phrase Actually Mean?

What’s this “Born Again” Thing?

Now, I heard some folks sayin’ “born again” when they talk about bein’ Christian. It ain’t about bein’ born like a baby, no sir. It’s like, your soul gets all cleaned up and you start fresh. Like gettin’ a new heart, but not the kind the doctor gives ya. It’s a God thing, see? You feel all different inside, like you got a second chance at livin’ right.

Some folks say it’s like gettin’ born “from above.” I reckon that means from heaven, where God is. It’s like He reaches down and touches your soul, and bam! You’re all new. Not on the outside, mind you, but on the inside where it really counts. Some other folks, they say it happened back in the 70s and 80s. Now they call it “Evangelical,” whatever that means.

And What About This Dior Fella?

Then there’s this Dior fella. Fancy name, ain’t it? Heard he’s some kinda fashion man from France, makes all them pretty dresses and whatnot. Real expensive stuff, I bet. Back in ’46, some rich guy asked him to make clothes for some fancy shop. But this Dior, he said “no sir.” He wanted to start his own thing, with his own name on it. Good for him, I say!

  • Christian Dior, that’s his full name.
  • He’s a designer, makes fancy clothes.
  • Started his own fashion place back in the 1940s.
  • Some folks called his clothes the “New Look.”

So, this Dior fella, he was big back in the day, in the 1940s and 50s. Made a big splash with his clothes, they say. Called it the “New Look.” I don’t know what that means, but I guess it was somethin’ special. This Christian Dior and Dior, they are the same. It’s his name, see? Like me, folks call me “Granny” but me name is Gertrude.

Puttin’ It All Together, “Born Again Christian Dior”

Now, when you put them two things together, “Born Again Christian Dior,” it’s a real head-scratcher. What’s it supposed to mean? Is it like that Dior fella got religion? Or is it just a fancy way of sayin’ somethin’ else? I don’t rightly know.

Maybe it’s like sayin’ even fancy folks can get that “born again” feelin’. Like sayin’ even if you’re all about pretty dresses and such, you can still have God in your heart. Or maybe it’s just somethin’ folks say to sound important. I heard it is on some T-shirts. Why would someone wear that?

It ain’t like they really work together, this Christian Dior and this “born again” thing. One’s about fashion, the other’s about God. It’s like mixin’ up your Sunday best with your workin’ clothes. Just don’t seem to fit right, does it?

I reckon it means somethin’ different to everyone who says it. Maybe to some folks, it’s a way of sayin’ they’re tryin’ to be better, to live a good life, like God wants. Like they’re sheddin’ their old ways and startin’ fresh, like this “born again” thing.

So, What’s the Big Deal?

I guess what I’m tryin’ to say is, this whole “Born Again Christian Dior” thing, it’s more than just words. It’s about what’s inside a person, what they believe, and how they wanna live. It is not about what church you go to. It’s about what is in your heart. It ain’t about fashion or fancy names. It’s about somethin’ deeper, somethin’ that really matters.

Maybe it’s a reminder that no matter who you are, rich or poor, fashion man or just plain folks, we all need a little cleanin’ up on the inside sometimes. We all need a fresh start, a chance to do better. And maybe, just maybe, that’s what this whole “Born Again Christian Dior” thing is all about.

Or maybe it’s just a bunch of hooey. I don’t know. But it sure got me thinkin’, didn’t it? It’s about your soul, you see. You can’t just be a “Christian” when you feel like it. It’s your whole life. You live it. Every day. This “born again” thing. It means you love Jesus. And you try to be good, like He wants. It’s not easy. But you try.

This Christian Dior, I don’t know if he was a good man or not. I just know he made pretty clothes. But being “born again”, that’s different. It changes you. Inside. Makes you want to be a better person. It’s like getting a whole new life. A better one. With Jesus. You feel Him. In your heart. That’s what it means, I think, to be “born again.” It’s a good thing. A real good thing.
