Okay, so today I messed around with Zales and SOKO. It wasn’t anything planned, just kinda fell into it.
Getting Started
First, I just wanted to see what each of them were about, separately. You know, get a feel for them.
- Zales: I poked around their website. Browsed a bit, Looked at some product.
- SOKO: Same deal. Checked out their stuff, their story, all that.
Putting Them Together
Then, the lightbulb moment (or maybe it was just boredom). What if I tried to, like, combine them? Not in a literal sense, of course. More like, could I use what I saw in one to influence how I saw the other?
I started by picking out a few things from Zales. Normal process you see. Then, I went back to SOKO and tried to find things that…matched? Complemented? I don’t even know the right word. It was all very intuitive, very much just going with my gut.
My “Process” (if you can call it that)
It was pretty messy, honestly. Lots of back and forth. Lots of “Hmm, maybe this…nah, not quite.” A lot of feeling like I was just making stuff up as I went along.
- Grab something from Zales.
- Look at SOKO.
- Find something similar, or something that “fit”.
- Repeat, a bunch of times.
What I Ended Up With
Honestly? No earth-shattering revelations. It was more about the process of just…exploring. Seeing how two different things could be kind of, sort of, connected.
It is Kind of like seeing how different styles might fit together, even if they seem totally different at first.
I didn’t create anything concrete. No fancy collages, no design documents, nothing like that. But it was a fun little exercise. Got my brain working, thinking about things in a slightly different way. Might try it again with other stuff sometime.
