Okay, so I decided to go all out this year and make a Lil Nas X costume. I’ve been obsessed with his style lately, so I figured, why not? Here’s how it went down.

Brainstorming and Gathering
First, I scrolled through a ton of pictures of him online. I mean, the guy has so many iconic looks, it was hard to choose! I finally settled on something inspired by his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video – a bit devilish, a bit glamorous. Think lots of red, some horns, and definitely some sparkle.
Then came the shopping spree (mostly online, let’s be real). I hit up a bunch of costume stores and craft stores.
- I found a basic red bodysuit.
- I snagged some devil horns – obviously.
- I got a ton of red and black fabric scraps for details.
- Glitter, rhinestones, and fabric glue – all the essentials.
The Creation Process
This is where things got messy, in a good way. I started by modifying the bodysuit. I cut and sewed some of the extra fabric to add some flair – kind of like a dramatic, shredded look. My sewing skills are… questionable, but hey, it worked!
Next, I went to town with the glitter and rhinestones. I stuck those bad boys everywhere – on the bodysuit, on the horns, even on some old boots I decided to repurpose. It was a glitter explosion, and I loved it.
The horns were pretty simple – I just covered them in red glitter and added some extra rhinestones for good measure. I attached them to a headband so they’d stay put.

For accesories I added some black, temporary tattoos all over my arms and a couple on my face, plus some chains and black bracelets.
The Final Look
Honestly, I was pretty proud of myself! It wasn’t perfect, but it definitely captured the vibe I was going for. It was bold, it was sparkly, and it was definitely Lil Nas X-inspired. Putting it all on I felt great. It’s not every day you get the courage to wear something so extra, but I fully embraced it.
