Yo, what’s up, everybody! It’s your boy back again with another story to tell. Today, we’re diving into how I made my own version of that Live Love ASAP cover. Yeah, the one with the flags and stuff. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, but it definitely took some trial and error.

So first, I had to gather my materials, right? I’m no graphic designer, but I know my way around some basic photo editing tools. I started by looking for the right kind of background. I needed that kind of wavy, distorted American flag look. I found some images online, but none of them were quite right, so I ended up messing around with a basic flag photo, using some blur and warp effects until it looked kind of like the original.
- Grabbed a picture of the American flag.
- messed it up with some photo editing tools.
- Got that wavy, distorted look.
Next up was the text. This was the tricky part. I read somewhere that ASAP Rocky used an Old English style for the text on his cover. I had to look up what “Old English typography” even meant. Turns out, it’s that fancy, gothic-looking font. I found a few free ones online that looked similar, downloaded them, and started playing around with the words “LIVE LOVE ASAP” in different arrangements.
I tried putting the text in different positions, changing the colors, and adding some effects like shadows and outlines. It took a while to get it looking just right. I wanted it to look authentic, like it could actually be a real mixtape cover. It was not easy to do it.
Putting It All Together
Once I had the background and the text, I started layering them together. I had to resize and reposition things a bunch of times. I ended up making the flag a bit darker and more faded so the text would pop more. Then I added a little bit of a grainy texture over the whole thing, just to give it that old-school, mixtape vibe.
Honestly, the whole process took me a couple of days, working on it on and off. It was a lot of experimenting and figuring things out as I went. But in the end, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not exactly like the original, but it’s got that same kind of feel, you know?

It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And that’s what matters, right? It’s all about expressing yourself and having fun with it. If any of you guys try this out, let me know how it goes! Peace out!
