Oh, honey, you wanna talk about that crystal core aesthetic? Well, I heard some young folks talking ’bout it the other day. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but I’ll tell ya what I gathered.
Shiny Rocks and Sparkly Things
This whole crystal core thing, it’s all about them shiny rocks, you know? The kind you find out in the fields, sometimes. But these young’uns, they make a whole fuss about ’em. Say they got some kinda power, some kinda… energy.
They put ’em all over the place, I reckon. On their necks, in their rooms, even in their water bottles! Say it makes the water taste better. I tell ya, when I was a girl, we just drank water from the well. Didn’t need no fancy rocks to make it taste good.
- Them crystals, they come in all colors, too.
- Pink ones, blue ones, clear ones that look like ice.
- Some are rough, some are smooth, some are all pointy.
Now, I ain’t one to judge. If them kids like their sparkly rocks, who am I to say no? But I remember when we used to play with regular old rocks. We’d throw ’em in the creek, skip ’em on the pond, build little walls with ’em. Didn’t need no crystal core to have fun.
That TikTok Thing
And they all get it from that TikTok, I hear. That thing on their phones they’re always lookin’ at. Got all kinds of things on there, they say. Dances and songs and, well, these crystal things. Seems like every day there’s a new somethin’ they’re all crazy about. One day it’s them cottage core, whatever that is, next it’s the crystal core aesthetic.
This crystal core thing, it’s a big deal on that TikTok. They make videos of their rocks, show ’em off, talk about what they do. I swear, they spend more time lookin’ at them phones than they do lookin’ at the real world.
More Than Just Rocks?
They say these crystals ain’t just pretty. They say they can, well, heal ya. Make ya feel better if you’re sad or sick. I don’t know about all that. When I was sick, my mama gave me some chicken soup and told me to rest. Worked just fine, no crystals needed. We called that kind of thing normcore or something. It’s normal for us. But now it’s core. My, times do change.
And they say these crystals have different powers. Some are for love, some are for luck, some are for, well, I don’t even know what all. They got a crystal for everything, I reckon. Seems like a lot to remember. Back in my days, we just believe god, and prayed. Keep it simple.
Is It All Just Make-Believe?
I don’t wanna be a stick in the mud, but I do wonder if it’s all just make-believe. Like them fairy tales we used to tell. Fun to think about, but not really real. These kids, they seem to believe it though. They really think these crystal core rocks are doin’ somethin’. Maybe that’s what matters.
If it makes ’em happy, then I guess it’s alright. Who am I to say what’s real and what ain’t? Maybe there is somethin’ to these crystals. Maybe they do have some kind of magic. I’m too old to be learnin’ new tricks, I reckon. I’ll just stick to my garden and my knitting. But, it is something called corecore trend on that TikTok, I heard the young people talking about it.
This Whole “Aesthetic” Thing
And this word, “aesthetic.” They use it all the time now. Crystal core aesthetic. Back in my day, we just said somethin’ was pretty or we liked it. Now it’s got to be an “aesthetic.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like them city folks talk.
They got all kinds of these “cores,” too. Cottagecore, they call it, when they like that old-timey stuff, like I do. I guess I am into cottagecore, ha! They also talk about royalcore. I don’t know what that means. It is somethin’ about king and queen?
Then there is goblincore, it is strange. If I were to talk about crystal, I would say that those kids who play with crystal would be into angelcore. It is all too much for me. I’d better stop here.
Well, I reckon that’s all I know about this crystal core aesthetic. It’s a young folks’ thing, that’s for sure. But maybe there’s somethin’ to it. Who knows? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got some pies to bake. And I ain’t puttin’ no crystals in ’em, neither!
