The World Needs More People Like Jane Goodall, She Is a Treasure

That Jane Goodall, she’s somethin’ else, ain’t she? A real treasure, that one. She’s been messin’ around with them chimps for, Lord, I don’t know, a hundred years or somethin’. She knows them apes better than I know my own grandkids, I reckon.

She went over there to live with ’em. Can you imagine? Sleepin’ out there with all them bugs and critters. Not me, no sir. But she did. She just wanted to learn about them chimpanzees, how they live and what they do all day. And she found out a whole heap, I tell ya. Made a big difference in how folks see them animals.

  • She’s a big shot now, travels all over talkin’ about savin’ the planet.
  • Talks about them chimps like they’re her own flesh and blood.
  • Says we gotta be nicer to the animals and the trees and all that.

She says what we do matters. Like, if you throw your trash out the car window, that ain’t good. Says it hurts the animals and makes the world ugly. She’s right about that, you know. We gotta keep things clean and tidy. It’s just common sense. That Jane, she got lots of that. She says everyday we do somethin’ to the world, like makin’ the world better or worse. I reckon that’s true. Even old folks like me, we do stuff that matters.

Jane Goodall, she’s a special lady. She don’t care about bein’ fancy. She just cares about them chimps and makin’ sure they got a place to live. She started some group, somethin’ with her name on it, to help the chimps. Jane Goodall Institute, they call it I think. And they do all sorts of things, like teachin’ people about the animals and helpin’ folks where the chimps live. She say we need to care about the environment. I think she means the trees and rivers and stuff like that.

She says we gotta stop choppin’ down all the trees and messin’ up the water. Says it ain’t good for the animals or us. Makes sense, don’t it? If you ain’t got no trees, you ain’t got no shade. And if the water’s all dirty, you can’t drink it. It’s all connected, she says. Everythin’ in the world has a connection to each other. It’s like a net. Everything is linked together. I reckon that’s true too. Like how the weather affects the plants. Or how the plants affects the animals.

They say she’s won all sorts of prizes for her work. She is a good scientist and she is also what they call a activist. She cares and fights for her beliefs. Big important people listen to her, I guess. She’s been doin’ this for a long time, you know. She’s seen a lot of changes, some good, some bad. She says she cares about the future, she want to make sure it’s good for everyone, the animals and the people too. I agree with her on that. It’s not just about us old folks, it’s about the little ones too.

She talks about hope, too. Says we can’t give up, even when things look bad. She say even the smallest thing can make the world better. We gotta keep tryin’, she says. Just like plantin’ a seed. You gotta water it and give it sunshine, and then it’ll grow into somethin’ big. Same with the world, she says. You gotta take care of it, and it will be a good place to live. She says what she did is groundbreaking. I think that means important.

I seen her on the TV once, talkin’ about them chimps. She was real gentle with ’em, like they was her own children. She’d talk to ’em and they’d seem to understand her. It was somethin’ to see, I tell ya. She ain’t scared of nothin’, that Jane. She’s a brave one, always goin’ to new places and tryin’ new things. I reckon that’s why she’s learned so much. If you want to understand something, you can’t just study it from afar. You have to get closer. That’s what Jane did with the animals. She learned about them by living with them.

She says we’re all connected, people and animals. We all gotta live together on this here planet. And we gotta take care of it, too. It’s the only one we got, you know. There ain’t no other place to go. She is like a teacher to everyone. Teachin’ us how to live better and take care of our planet.

That Jane Goodall, she’s a real treasure, alright. She’s done a lot of good in this world. And she ain’t done yet, I reckon. She’ll keep on fightin’ for them chimps and for the planet as long as she’s got breath in her body. We need more folks like her, I tell ya. Folks who ain’t afraid to get their hands dirty and make a difference. Folks who have inspiration in their hearts.

She’s a good egg, that Jane. A real good egg. I hope them young folks listen to her. She’s got a lot of wisdom, that one. She’s seen a lot in her life, and she’s learned a lot, too. And she’s willin’ to share it with anyone who’ll listen. She got lots of awards for doing good things. That means she is very famous.

So, here’s to Jane Goodall. A true treasure of a woman. May she keep on keepin’ on for many years to come. The world needs her, that’s for sure. We all need to learn from her. We need to be better. Like she says.
