Well, let me tell you, these young folks today with their fancy swimsuits. Back in my day, we just had a simple thing, covered you up good. But these two piece swimsuit with sleeves, they’re something else. I seen ’em on the TV, and those girls, they sure do like to show a lot of skin!
Now, this here two-piece thing, it’s like, two parts, you know? Top part and a bottom part. And the sleeves, well, some got ’em, some don’t. I reckon it’s for the sun, keeps you from burning up like a piece of bacon on a hot summer day. You know that sun can be cruel if you are not careful. My old man, bless his soul, he used to get so red, you could fry an egg on his back!
They got all sorts of these two-piece things. Some show your belly, some don’t. Some got those strings you tie up, some just slip on. I seen one the other day, bright red, like a fire truck! And the bottoms, oh my! Some are like shorts, some are, well, let’s just say they don’t leave much to the imagination.
Why do they wear them? I guess it makes them feel good, young folks today like to have fun. They want to be comfortable when they go swimming, I reckon. The two-piece, it’s easier to move around in, maybe. Not like those old-timey swimsuits, heavy as a sack of potatoes when they got wet.
And they got all these fancy words for ’em too. Bikinis, they call ’em. High-waisted, cheeky, plus-size… Lord have mercy, it’s a whole different language! Back in my day, we just called ’em swimsuits. Simple as that.

- All kinds of colors, you wouldn’t believe.
- Makes the young folks feel good, I suppose.
I remember one time, my granddaughter, she came to visit wearing one of these two piece swimsuit with sleeves. Black it was, with little flowers on it. She looked cute as a button, I’ll give her that. But I told her, “Honey, you be careful out there in that sun. Don’t want you getting all burnt up.”
These two piece swimsuits are all the rage, I guess. Every time you turn on the TV, you see some young thing prancing around in one. And they’re not cheap, neither! I saw the price tag on one in the store the other day, nearly fainted! Could buy a whole week’s worth of groceries for that kind of money.
But for the women who like to wear them, more power to them. You can choose what you like. What is the most important thing is that you feel good. Nobody is too old to wear what they like, no matter a one-piece or a two-piece. When you are happy, you are pretty.
I seen some that are all covered up, long sleeves and everything. Like a regular shirt, almost. Those are good for the folks who don’t want to show too much. I reckon if you are shy, those ones are good for you. Protect you from the sun, too. It’s important to keep your skin safe from the sun.
And the colors! Every color you can think of. Pink, blue, green, yellow, even those sparkly ones. Like a disco ball! I even saw one that was all different colors, like a rainbow. Now that’s something you don’t see every day.

- Some cover you up more than others.
- Long sleeves, short sleeves, no sleeves.
- Expensive, though! Cost more than a good Sunday dress.
- But if it makes you feel good, that’s what matters.
Two piece swimsuit with sleeves, one-piece swimsuit, it’s all the same to me. Just something to wear in the water. But I guess for the young folks, it’s more than that. It’s about being cool, you know, and looking good. And there ain’t nothing wrong with that, I suppose. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters. Just be sure to wear your sunscreen, now, hear? Don’t want you getting all burnt up like a piece of toast!
I still prefer my old swimsuit. It’s old, but it does the job. But these young people, they like new things. I do not understand why they always want to buy new things. Maybe when I was young, I also did the same thing, but I just forgot.
Anyways, if you want to wear a two-piece, you go for it. It is your body. You wear what you want. Do not care about what other people say. Just be happy. That’s all I want to say.
