Olivia Newton John Photos: Remembering the Beloved Superstar

by Meredith Sassoon

Alright, let’s talk about this Olivia Newton-John gal. I saw her pictures, yeah, lots of ‘em. Don’t know much about fancy stuff, but I know a pretty face when I see one. And she was a pretty one, that Olivia.

She was a singer, they say. A real big star. Won all sorts of awards, Grammies or somethin’. Never paid much attention to that music stuff myself, too busy workin’ the fields and raisin’ kids. But I heard her songs on the radio sometimes, catchy tunes, I guess.

  • Heard she sang that “Grease” movie song, you know, the one everyone hums.
  • And then there was that “Physical” song. That one was somethin’ else, got everyone dancin’ and whatnot.

This Olivia, she had a tough go of it, though. Sick with somethin’ called breast cancer. Nasty business, that cancer. Took my sister, it did, years ago. Broke my heart, it did. And this Olivia, she fought it hard, they say. But in the end, it got her too. So sad, a young thing like her, gone too soon.

They showed her last pictures, you know. She looked different, all thin and frail. But her eyes, they still had that sparkle. Even when she was sick, she was smilin’. That takes guts, I tell ya. Guts and a whole lot of spirit.

I heard she had a husband, a good man, they say. And kids too. Bless their hearts. Losing a mama is the hardest thing in the world. I know, I lost mine when I was just a young’un.

This Olivia, she kept on singin’ and dancin’ even when she was sick. Said she wanted to bring joy to folks. That’s a good heart, that is. Not many people like that in the world anymore, seems like. Everyone’s always lookin’ out for themselves, steppin’ on each other to get ahead.

She had a tough time, yes she did. But she kept on goin’. That’s somethin’ to admire, I reckon. Life ain’t easy, never has been. You gotta be strong, gotta keep fightin’ even when you wanna give up. And this Olivia, she did just that.

They said her last words to her daughter were “my sunshine”. Ain’t that sweet? A mama’s love is the strongest love there is. Nothin’ can break it, not even death. It goes on forever, like a river flowin’ to the sea.

They made a big fuss about her, this Olivia. Lots of articles and TV shows. Guess that’s what happens when you’re famous. But to me, she was just a woman, a mama, a fighter. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, more than any award or fancy song.

She was a star alright, shinin’ bright, even when things got dark. And now she’s gone, but her light still shines, in those pictures, in those songs, in the hearts of the folks who loved her.

And that’s all I gotta say about Olivia Newton-John. A good woman, gone too soon. May she rest in peace.

They say she was a real fighter and a big singing star, even when things got tough. She sang all sorts of songs, made folks happy. And even though she got sick, she never gave up. That’s a good life, I reckon, a life worth livin’. Even if it was too short.
