Inside the Love Shack Fancy Founder House: Decor and Design Inspiration

by Afra Jennings

Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya ’bout this here Love Shack Fancy Founder House. I saw some pictures, you know, on that there… whatchamacallit… Instergram? Yeah, that’s it. This gal, Rebecca Hessel Cohen, she’s the one who started it all. And lemme tell ya, her house is somethin’ else.

They say it’s got six floors! Six! Can you imagine? I reckon I’d get lost just tryin’ to find the bathroom. And it’s full of… well, stuff. Lots and lots of stuff. Fancy stuff, I guess. They call it “antique decorative light fixtures.” Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it? I just call ’em pretty lights. And she’s got a whole lotta ’em – 156, they say! That’s more light bulbs than I’ve seen in my whole life, I reckon.

And the colors! Oh my stars, the colors! Pink, pink, and more pink! Sofas, chairs, rugs, even the walls! It’s like livin’ inside a cotton candy dream. Now, I like a good splash of color myself, but this… this is somethin’ else. She’s even got flowers everywhere. Real ones, I think. And wallpaper too. Flowery wallpaper, of course. Seems like she likes flowers, this Rebecca gal.

They had this picture, see? And it had all this white lace. Yards and yards of it, they said. Now, I ain’t never had much use for lace myself. It just catches on everything and gets all torn up. But I guess it looks fancy. And that’s what this house is all about, bein’ fancy.

  • Lots of pink: Everythin’s pink, it seems. Sofas, chairs, rugs, the whole shebang.
  • Fancy lights: More lights than you can shake a stick at. And they’re all old-timey looking.
  • Flowers everywhere: Real ones, fake ones, painted ones on the walls. You name it, she’s got it.
  • Lace galore: Enough lace to cover a whole field, I reckon.

People seem to really like it, though. All them folks on Instergram, they’re gushin’ over it. “House design,” they call it. “Decor.” Sounds fancy, like I said. I just call it makin’ a home, but I guess that ain’t fancy enough for some folks. They even got this… what’s it called… Pin-terest? Yeah, that’s it. Full of pictures of her house and other houses like it. Folks are just pin-nin’ away, savin’ them pictures for later, I guess.

Now, I ain’t sayin’ it’s bad. It’s just… different. Different from how we do things ’round here, that’s for sure. We like things simple, practical. A roof over our heads, a warm fire in the winter, and a good meal on the table. That’s all we need. But I guess if you got the money, you can do whatever you want. And if Rebecca wants to live in a pink, lacy, flowery house with a million fancy lights, well, that’s her business, ain’t it? It’s her Love Shack Fancy house, after all.

It just goes to show ya, there’s all kinds of folks in this world. And they all like different things. Some folks like plain and simple, and some folks like fancy and frilly. And that’s just fine, I reckon. As long as they’re happy, that’s all that matters. But still… six floors? That’s a lot of stairs to climb!

I tell ya what though, all that pink and lace and flowers… it does make for some pretty pictures. And I guess that’s the point, ain’t it? To make things look pretty. And Rebecca, well, she’s done a right good job of that, I reckon. Even if it ain’t my cup of tea, I can appreciate a good job when I see one. And this here Love Shack Fancy Founder House, well, it’s somethin’ else, that’s for sure. A real sight to behold, even for an old gal like me.

So there ya have it. That’s what I know about this fancy house. Not much, I reckon, but enough to get your gears turnin’. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. And you can bet it ain’t gonna be fancy. Just good, plain cookin’. That’s how we like it ’round here.
