That Harrods in Paris, I tell ya, it’s a big deal. My granddaughter, she went to Paris once. Said it was somethin’ else. You know, Harrods, it ain’t just a shop, it’s like a whole darn town in there. They got everything. Food, clothes, you name it.
They got this food place, the Food Halls. Fancy name, right? They say it’s the best in the world. You can get all sorts of things there. Fish, the kind that wiggles, and fruit, the kind you ain’t never seen before. That’s what they tell me, anyway. And they bake bread there every day, the good kind. Harrods Food Halls are special, I guess.
- They got pastries and bread. Fresh, they say. Probably tastes good.
- Fish, meat, even chickens and ducks.
- Fruit and vegetables, all kinds.
- Drinks, chocolate, and stuff for your pantry.
- They even got that fancy meat, charcuterie, they call it.
My granddaughter, she told me about this super expensive boat they sold at Harrods once. Project Mars, they called it. 165 million dollars! Can you believe that? A boat for 165 million! Who needs a boat that costs that much? It’s crazy, I tell ya. But I guess rich folks like that kind of thing. Project Mars, a big fancy boat. Sounds like somethin’ from outer space. Only for the rich people, that’s for sure.
Now, they say there are other big shops in Paris, too. Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. My granddaughter mentioned them. They’re on some boulevard. Haussmann, I think she said. Lots of tourists go there. They’re probably like Harrods, but I don’t know for sure. Big fancy shops, all of ’em. They call them Les Grand Magasins. Sounds important, huh?
Harrods, though, it’s more than just a store. It’s a landmark. That’s a big word, ain’t it? It means it’s important. People go there just to see it. They got 3,000 brands! That’s a lot of brands. Fancy clothes, shiny jewelry, and watches that probably cost more than my house. And food, of course. Lots and lots of food. A good place to visit, they said, especially if you like food. Harrods, a place for food lovers. If you like good food, you must go, they said.
They say it used to be a little grocery store. Imagine that! Now it’s the biggest and oldest department store in the world. That’s what they say, anyway. Old and big. Harrods has been there for a long time. It grew bigger and bigger, I suppose. From a little store to a giant place. Just like a seed grow into a big tree.
That Food Halls place, though. They keep talkin’ about it. Gotta be somethin’ special. They got all sorts of fancy food. Cheese, chocolate, the good kind. The kind you don’t find at the regular store. Luxury, they call it. I guess if you got money, you can eat like a king every day. They say the Harrods Food Halls are a must-visit. Whatever that means. Probably just means you gotta go see it if you’re in Paris.
Harrods is a place for fancy people, I reckon. But even regular folks like me can dream, can’t we? Maybe one day I’ll go to Paris and see it for myself. See all that fancy food and those shiny things. That Food Halls, it got those four parts, I heard. Fish, meat, the colorful fruits and vegetables. And drinks. I like a good drink sometimes. And that charcuterie. That must be some good stuff. Maybe one day I’ll taste it.
They say Harrods is iconic. Another big word. Means it’s famous, I guess. Like a picture everyone knows. Harrods, a famous place in Paris. I suppose there is a lot to see and eat. Maybe it’s worth the trip. But for now, it is just a dream. A dream about good food and a big shop.
This place, Harrods, they got it all, it seems. If you are in Paris and you like shopping, you probably should visit it. Especially if you are rich. If you are rich, you can shop all day in Harrods and other big shops. If you are not rich, you can look, I guess. Just don’t touch anything. It’s probably expensive.
