Okay, let’s dive into my little adventure with the “Rick Owens by Rick Owens” book.
So, I’ve been eyeing this Rick Owens book for a while. I’m not, like, a huge fashion person, but I dig his aesthetic. It’s all dark and drapey and kinda architectural. Anyway, I finally decided to grab the book.
The Hunt Begins
First, I hit up a few of my usual online spots. Just typed it into the search bar, you know, the usual. Prices were all over the place. Some were way too much for my budget, and I was sure those were inflated prices for such a thing.
Digging Deeper
I tried a couple of used bookstores. I kinda like the vibe of used bookstores, all dusty and full of hidden gems. No luck. Struck out. Started to get a little discouraged, not gonna lie.
The Breakthrough!
I remembered that one of my art school pals had a connection to the school’s library, they have great design books. I hit her up, and BAM! I found the book to borrow.
The Book Itself
- Size: It’s HUGE. Like, seriously big. I had to clear off a whole section of my coffee table.
- Photos: The photos are incredible. Really moody and dramatic, just like his clothes. Lots of black and white, very stark.
- Text: There’s not a ton of text, which I actually appreciate. It’s mostly photos, with some quotes and short explanations from Rick himself.
- Vibe: The whole thing is just…cool. It’s like a piece of art in itself.
My Deep Dive
I grabbed a cup of coffee and I flipped through it slowly, taking it all in. I spent a good two hours just soaking it up.I even sketched a few of the outfits, just for fun.
The Result
I get it. I mean, it’s * way I would put it…it’s not just about the clothes. It’s about a whole mood, a whole world. I took a few photos of my favorite pages with my phone, just to have them as inspiration.
So, yeah, that was my little journey with the “Rick Owens by Rick Owens” book. Totally worth the effort. If you’re even remotely interested in his work, definitely check it out. Just be prepared to make some space on your coffee table!
