So, I’ve been seeing these Rick Owens Converse sneakers everywhere, and I finally decided to take a shot at making them my own.

Get the Look: Styling Rick Owen Converses for Any Occasion.

Getting Started

First things first, I needed the shoes.I Grabbed a pair of classic black high-top Converse. You can’t go wrong with the basics, right?

The Process

  • Prepping the Shoes:I started by giving them a good clean. Use an old toothbrush and some soapy water to get any dirt or scuffs off.
  • Marking the Design: With a pencil, I lightly sketched out where I wanted.I watched a few videos to get a sense of the shapes and placement.
  • Applying Paint:This is when things are begining.I used an Angelus paint, that’s what everyone online seemed to recommend. Small, steady strokes were key * I did a few thin coats, letting each one dry completely before adding the next.

I also used a tiny brush for the edges to keep things neat.

  • Sealing the Deal: Once I was happy with how it looked and the paint was totally dry, I sprayed on a matte acrylic finisher. This helps protect the paint from scratches and the weather.

Final Touches

I swapped out the regular laces for some longer, thicker ones that I could wrap around my ankles a few times, Rick Owens *’s all in the details, you know?

It was a fun little project, and I’m pretty stoked with how they turned out. Definitely a unique pair of kicks now!
