Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make my own perfume for a while now, and I finally decided to give it a go. I’m a big fan of fresh, citrusy scents, especially lemon, so I thought, why not try making a fresh lemon sugar perfume? It sounded simple enough, and let me tell you, it was a fun little project!

First things first, I gathered all my supplies. I needed:

  • Lemons – obviously! I grabbed a few fresh ones from the store.
  • Sugar – just regular granulated sugar.
  • Water
  • Some kind of oil – I read that jojoba oil is good for perfumes, but I just used some olive oil I had at home.
  • A small pot for mixing
  • A glass jar with a tight-fitting lid to store the perfume

Mixing it Up

I started by zesting the lemons. I used about two lemons, and then I set them aside. Next, I grabbed the pot and threw in about a cup of sugar and a cup of water. Heated it up on the stove over medium heat, stirring it until all the sugar dissolved. It was a pretty simple syrup!

Once the sugar was all dissolved, I took the pot off the heat and let it cool down a bit. Then I added the lemon zest into it and poured in a couple of tablespoons of olive oil. Gave it a good stir to make sure everything was mixed well.

Then, all I had to do was cover the pot and let it sit for a few hours. I wanted to give the lemon zest enough time to really infuse the syrup with that lovely citrus scent, you know?

Bottling the Scent

After a few hours, I strained the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to get rid of the lemon zest. What I was left with was this beautiful, fragrant, lemony syrup. It smelled amazing!

Finally, I carefully poured the lemon sugar mixture into my glass jar and sealed it tightly. That’s it! My very own homemade fresh lemon sugar perfume.

I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and I love it. It’s light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet. Plus, it’s got that zesty kick from the lemon that really wakes you up. I’ve been putting it on my wrists and behind my ears, just a little dab will do.

It’s not as strong as those store-bought perfumes, obviously, and it doesn’t last as long, but it’s a nice, subtle scent that’s perfect for everyday wear. And the best part is, I made it myself! I’m definitely going to experiment with other scents in the future. Maybe a lavender one next time? We’ll see!

This whole project was a lot of fun, and it was way easier than I thought it would be. If you’re into making your own stuff and you like fresh, citrusy scents, I totally recommend giving this a try. It’s a great way to create a unique fragrance that’s all your own.
