Forza Citizen PRX vs. Competitors: Which Watch Wins?

by Griffith Maggie

Okay, so I’ve been eyeing the Citizen PRX for a while, but I wanted something a little different. I stumbled upon the “Forza” version, which basically has this cool, textured dial. I decided to pull the trigger and mod it a bit to make it my own.

Forza Citizen PRX vs. Competitors: Which Watch Wins?

The Hunt Begins

First things first, I needed to find the watch. These aren’t exactly growing on trees, so I hit up all the usual spots – you know, the online marketplaces, the forums, even some local watch groups. It took a bit of digging, but I finally found one in pretty good condition.

Taking it Apart (Carefully!)

Once I had the watch, the real fun began. I’m no professional watchmaker, but I’ve tinkered with a few Seikos before, so I felt kinda confident. I got my tools together – a basic watch repair kit, nothing fancy – and laid everything out on a soft cloth. Slow and steady wins the race, that’s my motto. I carefully removed the case back, making sure not to scratch anything. The movement was exposed, looking all shiny and new. I Carefully placed it aside in a safe, dust-free spot.

The Dial Swap

The main reason of the swap is to make the watch’s dial looks way cooler. The standard PRX dial is fine, but it’s a bit, well, plain. The Forza dial, on the other hand, has this awesome texture that catches the light in a really interesting way. After taking off the hands with its own specific tool, I am ready to change the dials. Getting the hands off was probably the trickiest part. You need a special little tool, and you have to be super gentle. I managed to do it without bending anything, thank goodness. Swapping the dials was pretty straightforward, and it fit perfectly. Phew!

Putting it All Back Together

With the new dial in place, it was time to reverse the process. I carefully put the movement back in, making sure everything was lined up correctly. Then came the case back, which I screwed on tight, but not too tight. I made sure the rubber gasket was seated properly for water resistance.

Admiring My Work (and Wearing It!)

And that was it! I popped a new battery in (just in case), and the watch was good to go. Honestly, it looks fantastic. The Forza dial really makes a difference. It’s still a PRX, but it has this unique character that I love. I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I’ve gotten a bunch of compliments. It’s definitely a conversation starter.

Forza Citizen PRX vs. Competitors: Which Watch Wins?

Overall, it was a fun little project. Not too difficult, but definitely rewarding. If you’re thinking about modding your own watch, I say go for it! Just take your time, do your research, and don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty.
