Well, let me tell ya, this Filipino street style, it’s somethin’ else. You see all sorts of things walkin’ down the road, I tell ya. It’s a real mix-up, like a big ol’ stew.
Some folks, they wear them bright colors, real eye-catchin’. Like them jeepneys, you know? All painted up with flowers and birds and whatnot. Makes you feel happy just lookin’ at ’em. They got them shirts with big prints, sometimes flowers, sometimes words I can’t even read. Kids these days, they like them big baggy pants, hangin’ down low. I don’t get it, but hey, to each their own, right?
Then you got the others, they like it simple. Plain t-shirts, jeans, maybe a hat to keep the sun off. Comfortable stuff, you know? Good for workin’ or just sittin’ around. You see a lot of that, especially when it’s hot. And boy, does it get hot here! Makes you wanna just sit in the shade and drink somethin’ cold.
- Clothes gotta be comfy, that’s for sure.
- Gotta be able to move around, you know? Do your chores, chase after the grandkids.
- And it gotta be somethin’ that can handle the weather. Rain or shine, you gotta be ready.
This “Team Manila” they talk about, been around since, what, 2001? That’s a long time. They must be doin’ somethin’ right. And them “Daily Grind” folks too. Guess they make clothes for everyday wear. Workin’ clothes, I reckon. Stuff that lasts.
Heard tell of some brothers startin’ a brand, “Don’t Blame the Kids.” Sounds like somethin’ my grandson would say! Kids always gettin’ blamed for somethin’, ain’t they? But these kids, they makin’ clothes. Imagine that. From a little project to a whole business. That’s somethin’ to be proud of, I say.
Now, some of them clothes, they real fancy. They call ’em “couturiers” or somethin’. Big words for fancy clothes. They got all them patterns and designs, real pretty stuff. But me, I like things simple. Give me a good sturdy dress, or a pair of pants that won’t fall apart, and I’m happy.
There’s all these local brands poppin’ up too. Filipino brands, makin’ Filipino clothes. That’s good, I say. Keepin’ the money here, helpin’ folks out. And they got some real nice stuff, from what I hear. Clothes for everyone, young and old.
Streetwear, they call it. Fancy name for regular clothes, if you ask me. But it’s popular, I guess. Kids like it. They like them big logos and bold designs. And the quality is good too, they say. Not like them cheap things that fall apart after a few washes.
And speakin’ of washin’, you gotta think about that when you buy clothes here. It gets hot, you sweat a lot. So you gotta wash things often. So you need clothes that can handle it. Light stuff, easy to dry. Like them dusters, you know? Simple dresses, comfortable and cool. Perfect for a hot day.
So yeah, Filipino street style, it’s a lot of things. It’s colorful, it’s comfortable, it’s practical. It’s a mix of old and new, traditional and modern. But most importantly, it’s Filipino. It’s part of who we are, part of our culture. And that’s somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon.
You go walkin’ around Manila, you’ll see it all. From the fancy clothes in the shops to the simple clothes people wear every day. It’s a real feast for the eyes, I tell ya. And it tells you a lot about the people. They’re hardworking, they’re creative, and they’re proud of who they are.
And don’t forget, if you’re gonna be walkin’ around, wear somethin’ comfy on your feet. Good shoes are important. You don’t want your feet hurtin’ after a long day. And if you’re gonna be out in the sun, wear a hat. Keep that sun off your face. That’s important too.
So, that’s my take on it. Filipino street style, it ain’t just about clothes, it’s about life. It’s about workin’ hard, havin’ fun, and bein’ proud of who you are. And that’s somethin’ I can understand.
