Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this here Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market the other day. Seems like it’s a big deal, this lighthouse thing.

They say it’s been around for a long, long time. Since way back in, uh, 1911, I reckon. That’s what them young’uns with their fancy phones were sayin’. This Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse, it’s right there on that big ol’ lake, Lake Erie. They call it, uh, Cleveland West Pierhead Lighthouse too. Sounds mighty important, don’t it?

Now, this here lighthouse, it’s got a green tower, they say. And a red light on top. Shines bright, I imagine. Helps them big boats find their way into Cleveland, I suppose. Keeps ’em from crashin’ into the, uh, pier, whatever that is. This is important for Cleveland Harbor West Pierhead Lighthouse, you know.

  • Green tower
  • Red light
  • Helps boats
  • Been there since 1911

I heard you can’t go inside it, though. Just gotta look at it from far away. But it has some special charm. Shame, really. I wouldn’t mind seein’ what it looks like up close. But them’s the rules, I guess. It’s right outside of that big city, Cleveland. Near that, uh, downtown place they’re always talkin’ about.

This Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse, it’s like a, a guardian, they say. Watchin’ over the harbor. Makin’ sure them boats don’t get lost. It’s been doin’ that for a long time. Longer than I been alive, that’s for sure! It is one of the best lighthouses to see. That’s what they tell me, anyways.

Back in the day, they used, uh, kerosene for the light. Somethin’ like that. Shiny stuff, I think. And then they got a new, fancy light thingamajig in, uh, 1874. From some place called Moreton Island, far, far away, I guess. They say the light can be seen for miles and miles. Must be somethin’, huh?

Now, this Lake Erie, it’s got a whole bunch of these lighthouses. More than fifty, they say! Each one with its own story. Some made of wood, some made of brick. Some you can go into, some you can’t. But this Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse, it’s special, they say.

These lighthouses, they’re like old folks, I reckon. Full of stories. They seen a lot in their time. This Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse, it’s seen this city grow and change. Seen them boats come and go. It’s a part of the city’s, uh, history, they say. Connected to the lake.

I reckon this Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse, it’s more than just a buildin’. It’s a symbol, or somethin’. A reminder of the old days. When things were simpler, maybe. Before all these cars and phones and whatnot.

Well, that’s all I know about this here Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse. Just what I heard folks sayin’. Might not be all right, but it’s what I got. Hope it makes some sense. It’s a pretty thing, from what I hear. Maybe one day I’ll go see it for myself. If I ever get to that Cleveland place.

They say that in 1917, there was a chart showin’ all the lights near the Cleveland Harbor. This Cleveland West Pierhead Lighthouse was there, too. These landmarks tell the story, you know.

  • More than 50 lighthouses on Lake Erie
  • Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse is iconic
  • It’s a part of Cleveland’s history
  • First lit in 1911

I don’t know much about charts and all that. But I reckon it’s important. Keeps them boats safe, I suppose. That’s the main thing, ain’t it? Keepin’ folks safe. And this Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse, it’s been doin’ that for a long, long time. So, it must be doing something right, wouldn’t you think? They say the original light could be seen for almost 8 nautical miles, that’s 14.5 kilometers. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds far.

Yep, that’s the story of the Cleveland Harbor Lighthouse. Or at least, as much of the story as this old gal knows. Hope you enjoyed it. It is a good lighthouse, they said. Maybe it ain’t much, but it’s somethin’. And sometimes, somethin’ is all you need.
