Annie Leibovitz Photographs Roger Federer: See the Stunning Pictures of the Tennis Legend

by Afra Jennings

That Annie, she takes some pictures, you know? This time, she got that Roger Federer fella. You seen him? Good at that tennis thing. Hits the ball real good. She took him up high, way up on some big, rocky hill. I seen the picture. It’s something else, I tell ya.

They call it the… the Doll-o-mites. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Just a bunch of rocks and snow, far as I can tell. But that Annie Leibovitz, she makes it look all special. Got that Federer fella standing up there, looking all important. He’s got a backpack and everything. Like he’s gonna go live up there or something. Silly, if you ask me.

They say it’s for some fancy clothes. Louie… Louie something. Expensive stuff. Not like the clothes we get down at the market. But hey, that Roger Federer, he can wear what he wants. He’s earned it, hitting that ball all those years. Makes a good living, I reckon. Me? I just get by tending to my garden and chickens.

That Annie Leibovitz, she must be somethin’ else too. Getting paid to take pictures of famous folks. Wish I could do that. Just point and shoot. But I ain’t never been no good with them cameras. Too many buttons. Give me my hoe and my seeds any day.

So, this picture, it’s got that mountain, see? And Roger Federer, he’s all the way up there. Looks kinda small, actually. Makes you think, don’t it? Big star like him, but next to that big old mountain, he’s just a little speck. We all are, I suppose. Just little specks in this big old world.

But that Annie, she knows how to make a speck look important. She’s got an eye for it, I guess. Makes you see things different. Like that mountain. Never thought much about mountains before. Just big lumps of rock. But now, seeing it in that picture, it’s kinda… pretty. In a rough sort of way. Like an old, wrinkled face. Got a story to tell.

  • That Annie Leibovitz, she’s good.
  • Roger Federer, he’s good too.
  • Those Dolomites, they’re just big rocks.
  • But the picture, it’s kinda nice.

I heard there was another fella in some of the pictures too. Another tennis player. Nadel, or somethin’ like that. He’s good too, they say. But this picture, it’s just Federer. Standing there on that mountain. Makes you wonder what he’s thinking. Probably thinking about hitting that ball. That’s all they ever think about, these athletes.

But maybe, just maybe, he’s thinking about something else. Maybe he’s looking out at all that… nothingness, and he’s feeling small. Like we all do sometimes. Even big stars like Roger Federer. Maybe he’s thinking about his family. Or his life. Or maybe he’s just thinking about how cold it is up there. It sure looks cold.

That Louie, Louie Vooton, they sure know how to pick ’em. Roger Federer, he’s a good one. And that Annie Leibovitz, she knows how to take a picture. She makes you look. Makes you think. Even if it’s just a picture of a man on a mountain. A big, famous man on a big, famous mountain. But still, just a man. And a mountain.

They say this picture, it’s for some “core values” thing. Whatever that means. Sounds like something they teach in school. I never did go to school much. Learned more from the land, and from life. But I guess these fancy folks, they need to learn it from pictures. And that Annie Leibovitz, she’s the one to teach ’em, I suppose.

This whole thing, it’s kinda funny, ain’t it? A picture of a tennis player on a mountain, selling fancy clothes. But I guess that’s the world we live in. Everything’s connected, somehow. Even things that don’t seem like they should be. Like tennis, and mountains, and fancy clothes. And me, an old lady just looking at pictures. What do I know, right?

That Annie Leibovitz, she sure is somethin’. And that Roger Federer, he’s a good one, that’s for sure. And those Dolomites, well they are just some big old rocks. But she makes ’em look good, that Annie. Darn tootin’ she does.
