Writer Cologne: Where to Buy and How to Use It?

by Meredith Sassoon

Okay, so, a while back, I decided to get into colognes. I’d always just used whatever body wash smelled okay, but I figured it was time to step up my game. I started with this one called “Writer” by Cyrus. Sounded cool, right? Like something a sophisticated author would wear while penning his next bestseller.

Writer Cologne: Where to Buy and How to Use It?

First thing I did was hit up the internet, trying to figure out what this “Writer” stuff was all about. I found out it’s supposed to have this “striking masculinity” vibe, whatever that means. It’s got lemon listed as the first scent note, so I figured it’d be fresh and not too overpowering. I’m not one for those scents that smack you in the face, you know?

I ended up ordering it online, ’cause who has time to go to actual stores anymore? When it arrived, the bottle looked pretty sleek, I gotta admit. I was excited to try it out, but I also read somewhere that most guys don’t even apply cologne right. So I did some more digging. Turns out, you’re supposed to put it on the warm spots of your body – like your neck, chest, wrists. The heat helps the scent spread out and mix with your own body chemistry, which I guess is how you get your own unique smell.

So, armed with this new knowledge, I gave it a go. Sprayed a bit on my wrists and my neck after a shower. The first thing I noticed was that burst of lemon. It was definitely fresh, just like the description said. I was feeling like the man with class. As the day went on, I caught whiffs of it here and there. It wasn’t too strong, but it was there, you know? A subtle, masculine scent. I even noticed other scents later in the day, maybe those were the Mandarin, Lavender, and Green Apple scents? I was even picking up some Geranium later on.

My Experience Summary

  • Tried: “Writer” cologne by Cyrus.
  • Researched: Learned about fragrance notes and application techniques.
  • Applied: Put it on pulse points like neck and wrists.
  • Noticed: Initial lemon scent, followed by a more complex, masculine fragrance that developed throughout the day.
  • Confirmed: Found out the other scents throughout the day such as Mandarin, Green Apple, Geranium, and even some woody scents such as White Musk later on.

All in all, it was a pretty good first experience with cologne. I felt a bit more put-together, a bit more confident. I guess there’s something to this whole fragrance thing after all. I might have to try out some other scents in the future, but for now, “Writer” is doing the trick. It’s become my go-to for when I want to feel a bit more, well, like a writer, I suppose.
