Womens Type of Jeans: Your Ultimate Style Guide for All Occasions

by Meredith Sassoon

Today, I spent the whole day figuring out what kind of jeans are out there for women. You wouldn’t believe how many different types there are!

First, I started by looking up some basic info online. Just to get an idea of the common styles. There are so many. I jotted down some notes about skinny jeans, straight-leg jeans, and those high-waisted ones called “mom jeans.” I also found some stuff about bell bottoms, which are those ’70s style ones that flare out at the bottom. They’re kind of cool, actually.

Then, I decided to hit up a few stores. I figured the best way to really understand the differences was to see them in person and try them on. The first store I went to had a huge denim section. I was kind of overwhelmed at first, but I started pulling out different styles.

  • I tried on a pair of skinny jeans, and they were super tight, all the way down to my ankle. I can see why people like them – they make your legs look long.
  • Next, I grabbed some straight-leg jeans. These were more comfortable. They fit more loosely around my hips and thighs, and the legs were just, well, straight.
  • Then I tested out a pair of mom jeans. I have to say, I didn’t think I’d like them, but they were actually kind of flattering. High-waisted and a bit loose.

After that, I moved on to another store. This one had some different styles, like boyfriend jeans and wide-leg jeans. Boyfriend jeans are supposed to look like you borrowed them from a guy, so they’re loose and baggy. Wide-leg jeans are, you guessed it, wide all the way down the leg. I tried on a few different washes and colors, too.

By the end of the day, my head was spinning with all the different types of jeans. I realized that the “best” type really depends on what you like and what looks good on you. For me, I think I liked the straight-leg jeans the best. They were comfortable and seemed pretty versatile. I also don’t mind mom jeans. I ended up buying a pair of straight-leg ones, and another pair of mom jeans. Maybe I’ll try the others another time.

Honestly, shopping for jeans is harder than it looks. My feet were killing me after all that walking and trying things on. I even got lost in one of the stores for a minute! But hey, at least I learned a lot. Now I feel like a bit of a jeans expert. I even wrote a guide to different types of jeans, maybe I’ll share it next time.

It was a productive day, even if it was tiring. I definitely recommend trying on a bunch of different styles to see what you like. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
