I saw some shoes that caught my eye the other day, the KD 4 “Aunt Pearl”. They are a tribute to Kevin Durant’s Aunt Pearl, who passed away from lung cancer. This really hit home for me, as I also lost a loved one to cancer. I had to learn more.

I started to read up on these shoes, and they are not just some regular kicks. These shoes were brought back again, after being out in 2012. It looks like they are doing this to support the Kay Yow Fund. I think that’s amazing, using a product to support a good cause.
I looked up the price, and they are going for $150. It’s a bit pricey, but considering the cause and the story behind them, I think it’s worth it. Then I found out that KD has been doing this since the KD 6. It’s pretty cool to see an athlete use their platform to raise awareness about women’s cancers.
After reading about the KD 4, I decided to check out the newer models. The Nike KD 17 caught my attention. So, I went to the store to try them on. They felt so light, only 12.6 oz.
I’m seriously thinking about getting a pair. It’s not just about the shoes, but also about the message they carry. Supporting a cause and honoring a loved one, all while rocking some cool kicks. It feels right.
I also found out that they are releasing these on October 25th, along with some other cool shoes. It’s going to be a big day for sneakerheads, and I might just join them. I’m not a huge sneaker collector, but these shoes, especially the Aunt Pearl ones, they are special.

I’m excited to see the stories of other women battling cancer being shared through this “Aunt Pearl” colorway. It’s a great way to bring attention to the issue and maybe even inspire others to get involved in the fight against cancer.
So yeah, I’m definitely keeping an eye on these KD shoes. It’s more than just a purchase; it’s a statement. And who knows, maybe I will start a little collection of my own, starting with the Aunt Pearl KDs.
