Okay, so I’ve been on this whole self-improvement kick lately, right? Reading all these books, listening to podcasts, trying to get my life together. And this one name keeps popping up: Jocko Willink. I mean, the dude’s a legend – a retired Navy SEAL, author, big-time podcaster. Super intense guy. Naturally, I got curious about the kind of gear a guy like that uses. Specifically, his watch. He always posts the watch image on Twitter every morning. It’s a pretty cool competition for me, which pushed me to find out.

First, I hit up Google. Typed in “what watch does Jocko Willink wear?” Boom, tons of results. Seems like everyone’s curious about this! Some folks were saying he’s all about the Timex Ironman, the classic digital watch. I remember those from back in the day – tough, reliable, no-nonsense. Just like Jocko.
- Went down a rabbit hole of watch forums and articles. Lots of speculation, some saying it’s specifically the Timex Ironman T66801. Apparently, it’s an older model, maybe even discontinued.
- Even found out that the US government said that the Navy SEALs don’t have an official watch. It’s all about personal preference! They pick what works best for them in terms of purpose, weight, and functionality. Makes sense.
Then things got interesting. Some folks were claiming Jocko rocks a Luminox Navy SEAL 3000 series watch. That sounded badass, so I had to check it out. Looks like a serious piece of hardware, designed for military use. I could totally see Jocko wearing that during his SEAL days. He commanded SEAL Team 3’s Task Unit Bruiser in the Iraq War. That unit fought in the battle against the Iraqi insurgents in Ramadi, and Jocko got a Silver Star and a Bronze Star Medal for his service. He even made it to lieutenant commander!
But then, plot twist! I stumbled upon an update saying Timex and Huckberry re-released the classic Jocko watch in April 2023. So, the Timex Ironman is back in action! I guess the demand was there.
My Final Discover
After digging through all this info, I’m pretty convinced Jocko’s main watch is the Timex Ironman. It just fits his style – tough, functional, and no frills. The Luminox might be something he wears occasionally or maybe wore in the past, but the Timex seems to be his go-to. I personally wear a Timex Datalink every day and never switch it out. I don’t really see the point in having a bunch of watches. And about Jocko, he is from San Diego, and he co-wrote a couple of New York Times bestsellers, “Extreme Ownership” and “Dichotomy of Leadership.” He also has the popular Jocko Podcast and co-founded Echelon Front. Now, I’m not saying I’m gonna go out and buy a Timex Ironman just because Jocko wears one (although, it is tempting…). But it’s cool to see what kind of gear a guy like that relies on. It’s all about finding what works for you and helps you stay on track, right?
Anyway, that’s my little investigation into Jocko Willink’s watch. Hope you found it interesting! Maybe it’ll inspire you to look into the gear that your role models use. You never know what you might discover.
