Okay, so I’ve been on this vintage Coach bag kick lately, and let me tell you, the hunt is REAL. I was specifically after a pre-Creed bag, meaning one made before they started stamping them with that serial number. And I wanted burgundy. Why? I don’t know, it just felt right.

So, I started by scouring the usual suspects. You know, the online marketplaces, the thrift stores, the vintage shops… everywhere. I spent hours scrolling, zooming in on photos, looking for that perfect worn-in leather and that telltale lack of a Creed.
The Search
- First, I hit the online marketplaces. So many bags, so many fakes. Really had to use my eagle eyes!
- Then I moved on to physical locations. The thrill of the hunt in person is unmatched!
- Some vintage shops had promising leads, but nothing that really sang to me. Too beat up, wrong color, or just…not it.
I found a few contenders, don’t get me wrong. One was almost perfect, but it had this weird stain on the bottom that I just couldn’t get past. Another was the right color, but it was a style I wasn’t crazy about. This went on for weeks! It was starting to feel like my dream bag was just a myth.
Then, last weekend, I decided to try a new antique mall I’d never been to before. And there it was! Tucked away in a corner, hanging on a dusty old rack, was this gorgeous, deep burgundy, pre-Creed Coach bag. It was a classic saddle bag style, the leather was beautifully worn, and it just felt…perfect.
I examined it closely, checking the stitching, the hardware, the overall condition. No major flaws! I practically squealed with delight (internally, of course, gotta maintain some composure). I negotiated the price down a little – always gotta try! – and walked out of there feeling like I’d won the lottery.
I’ve been carrying it every day since. It’s the perfect size, it goes with everything, and it just has this amazing vintage vibe that I love. Mission accomplished! Now, onto the next vintage treasure hunt…
