Well, let me tell you about this watch thing, you know, the one Elvis gave to that girl, Priscilla. Folks keep askin’ about it.
What watch did Elvis give to Priscilla, you ask? It was a real fancy one, a Baume & Mercier, they say. Made of gold, you know, the shiny yellow stuff, and it had diamonds on it. Not just any diamonds, mind you. They were shaped like a little moon, all sparkly and pretty. Went from here to there on the watch face, real eye-catchin’, I reckon.
He gave it to her after they made a movie together. She was playin’ his girlfriend in it. Before they got hitched, you see. Just a little somethin’ to show he liked her, I guess. Boys do that sometimes, give girls shiny things.
- He gave her other stuff too. Like a car! A red one. For graduatin’ school, see? That was a big deal. Kids these days, they get all sorts of stuff for just breathin’, but back then, a car was somethin’ special. Especially a red one.
- And pills, he gave her pills too. Not the good kind, the kind that make you sleepy. Too sleepy, maybe. That ain’t right, givin’ a young girl pills like that. Makes you wonder, it does.
This whole thing, about Elvis and Priscilla, it’s been told in a book. Priscilla herself wrote it. Called it “Elvis and Me”, real original, huh? And now they made a movie about it too. Same name, pretty much. Shows how they met, when she was just a young’un, and how he kinda took over her life.
See, she was just a kid, fourteen years old, and he was a grown man, twenty-four. That’s a big difference, I tell ya. He kind of shaped her, made her who she was. Not always in a good way, maybe.
The movie, they say it shows all this. How he gave her things, like the
