Okay, so I gotta share what I’ve been up to lately. It started kinda randomly, I was just messing around online, you know, watching some music videos, and this old Lenny Kravitz track popped up. And I just stopped and thought, man, this guy’s always had a look. Like, you instantly know it’s him. Been seeing him around for ages, magazines, TV, whatever, and the style is just consistently… Kravitz.

So I figured, why not actually try and figure out what that look is? Not like I was gonna start wearing see-through shirts tomorrow, but I was curious. What makes it tick? I decided to actually dig into it, make it a little project for myself.
My Deep Dive into the Vibe
First thing I did was just gather intel. Sounds serious, but really I just started saving pictures. Went on Google Images, Pinterest, watched a bunch of his live performances on YouTube. Just dumped everything into a folder. Old school Kravitz from the 90s, recent stuff, all of it. Trying to spot the patterns, you know?
And patterns started showing up, for sure. Here’s kinda what I noticed:
- Leather, obviously. Pants, jackets, vests. Seems like a staple. Sometimes ripped jeans too, often tight.
- Boots. Always some kind of boot happening. Chelsea boots, biker boots, heeled boots sometimes. Gives that rockstar edge.
- Accessories overload. This was a big one. Scarves, man. So many scarves. Often big and drapey. And jewelry – necklaces layered up, rings on multiple fingers, bracelets. Sunglasses too, classic aviators or round ones.
- Open shirts or no shirts. Yeah, that’s part of the look too, especially back in the day. Or vests with nothing underneath. Takes some guts, or just being a rockstar, I guess.
- Mixing textures. Leather with denim, velvet, knits. It wasn’t just one note.
Trying to Bring it Home (Sort Of)
Alright, so I had the ‘data’. Then I thought, okay, could I actually wear any of this? I’m not exactly performing at stadiums here. I went through my own wardrobe. Got a leather jacket, yeah, but it’s pretty plain. Got jeans, but not the super-tight ripped kind.
I even hit up a couple of thrift stores one weekend. Thought maybe I could find a cool vintage scarf or a funky vest, something with that vibe. Found a couple of okay-ish scarves, but nothing that screamed ‘Kravitz’. Tried on a leather vest, looked kinda ridiculous on me, honestly. Felt like I was wearing a costume.

It made me realize something pretty quick. His style isn’t just about the individual items. It’s how he puts it all together, the confidence he has wearing it. It’s worn-in, feels natural on him. It’s accumulated over years, not just bought off a rack.
So, What Did I Learn?
Well, I definitely appreciate his style more now, seeing the components. It’s bold, it’s consistent, and it’s totally unique to him. It takes commitment.
Did I overhaul my wardrobe? Nah. Leather pants are still a hard pass for me. But I did start thinking more about accessories. Maybe adding a scarf more often, or finding some cooler rings. I actually picked up a couple of simple silver bands, feels like a small step, you know? And I’m definitely keeping an eye out for a really beat-up, cool-looking pair of boots now.
So yeah, that was my little experiment. Didn’t turn me into Lenny Kravitz Jr., but it was fun to break down a style like that. Made me think about how clothes can really say something about who you are. Or at least, who you wanna look like you are.
