And folks payin’ good money for it! Forty dollars, they say. Forty dollars for a hat! Back in my day, you could get a whole outfit for that kinda money.
And he’s got this other hat, the Usc Travis Scott hat, they call it “iconic.” Iconic, my foot! It’s just a hat with a letter on it. But everyone wants it. They buy it, sell it, trade it, like it’s made of gold or somethin’. They got this website, GOAT, they call it, where you can buy and sell these hats. Sounds like a barnyard to me, but what do I know?
He’s even got hats with his record label, Cactus Jack Records, on ’em. He’s got all these other singers and rappers workin’ for him, fellas like SoFaygo and Don Toliver, never heard of ’em myself. But they make hats, too. Everybody’s makin’ hats these days.
And then there’s this “Jack Goes Back to College” collection. Now, I never went to college, didn’t need no fancy learnin’ to raise a family and work the land. But these city folks, they like to pretend they’re still in school, I guess. So Travis, he makes hats and clothes that look like somethin’ you’d wear to one of them football games. He even teamed up with these other companies, Lids and Mitchell & Ness, to make ’em. Big business, this hat business.
I even heard a story about how Travis gave his hat away at a show. Now he’s tryin’ to find the fella he gave it to, so he can give him some shoes. See? These hats, they’re more than just hats. They’re like tickets to somethin’, a way to be part of this whole Travis Scott world.
Seems like Travis likes all kinds of hats. Old ones, new ones, ones with letters, ones with his name. He even wears somethin’ called a New Era Cap. Been around since 1920, they say. That’s older than me! And he’s got hoodies and shorts too, whole collection of stuff they call Cactus Jack clothing. But it’s the hats everyone’s talkin’ ’bout.
So there you have it. A whole bunch of fuss over some hats. Me, I’d rather wear my old sun bonnet, keeps the sun outta my eyes just fine. But these youngins, they got their own ways, I guess. And if they wanna spend their money on Travis Scott hats, well, that’s their business.
