Thinking of Brazilian Highlights? Check Out These Before and After Pics!

Okay, so I’ve been playing around with my hair color a lot lately, and I wanted to share my little experiment with doing a Brazilian blowout before and after getting highlights. It’s been a journey, let me tell you!

Getting Started

First off, I gotta say, my hair was feeling pretty fried. I’d been bleaching it for a while, and it was just dry and brittle. I was desperate to get some life back into it, so I decided to try a Brazilian blowout. I’d heard it could work wonders, so I booked an appointment and hoped for the best.

The First Brazilian Blowout

The first time I got the blowout, it was before I did any highlighting. The stylist washed my hair, put the treatment on, and blow-dried it straight. Then she flat-ironed the heck out of it. I sat there for a good while, letting it all soak in. It took about two hours total, maybe a bit more. My hair felt amazing afterward – so smooth and shiny! I was pretty stoked.

Highlight Time

About a week later, I went in for highlights. I wanted to brighten things up a bit, you know? The stylist sectioned my hair and started painting on the bleach. I was a little worried about how the blowout would react, but it seemed okay. We rinsed, toned, and dried, and honestly, it looked pretty good. The highlights were nice and bright, and my hair still felt relatively soft.

The Second Brazilian Blowout Attempt

Then, a few weeks after that, I thought, “Why not do another blowout to really seal the deal?” Big mistake. Maybe it was too soon, or maybe the highlights plus the blowout were just too much, but my hair did NOT like it. I started to notice a bad smell on my hair. It smelled like old people’s home. That’s when I knew I had made a terrible mistake. I was hoping this second treatment would fix it, but it only made my hair more damaged than before.

After

  • Damage: My hair felt even more fried than before I started this whole process.
  • Breakage: I noticed a lot more breakage, especially around the highlighted areas.
  • Texture: My hair was way less smooth. I had to give up and cut my hair to short bob, not worth it.

So, the moral of the story is, maybe don’t do a Brazilian blowout right after getting highlights. Or maybe just don’t do two blowouts so close together. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to get my hair back to a healthy state. It’s been a rough ride, but hey, at least I learned something, right? And maybe my little experiment can help someone else avoid making the same mistake.
