Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour outfits, especially those sparkly catsuits. I decided I wanted to try and make one myself, just for fun, you know? I’m no fashion designer, but I’m pretty handy with a sewing machine and I figured, why not?

First thing I did was look up a ton of pictures of Taylor’s catsuits online. I mean, she’s got a bunch, each one more dazzling than the last. I finally settled on one that was mostly black with silver sparkly details. I thought that would be the easiest to start with. The style is actually really simple since it’s really just one piece of clothing.
Next, I went to the fabric store. I felt like a kid in a candy store. So many fabrics! But I found some nice, stretchy black fabric for the base and this gorgeous silver sequined fabric for the accents. I also picked up some thread, a zipper, and a few other bits and bobs.
Getting the pattern right was the hardest part. I ended up finding a basic catsuit pattern online (not a Taylor Swift one, just a generic one). Then I studied the pictures of Taylor’s suit some more and tried to modify the pattern to match. Lots of pinning, cutting, and repinning. Honestly, I lost count of how many times I messed up and had to start over.
- Measure and cut the fabric according to the pattern.
- Sew the pieces together, starting with the legs and then the torso.
- Add the silver sequined fabric to the suit. I decided to do this by hand, which took forever, but I wanted it to look really neat.
- Finally, I sewed in the zipper. This was a bit tricky because of the stretchy fabric, but I managed it in the end.
It took me a couple of weeks of working on it in my spare time, but I finally finished it! It’s not perfect, and it’s definitely not as fancy as Taylor’s, but it was really close to her style when she performed on tour. I’m pretty proud of it. I even wore it to a Taylor Swift-themed party, and everyone loved it!
This whole project was so much fun. It was a great way to challenge myself creatively, and I learned a lot about sewing and pattern-making. Plus, now I have a sparkly catsuit! Who knows, maybe I’ll try to make another one of her iconic outfits someday. She’s got so many good ones, especially those sparkly dresses. I might give those a shot next! But I am also thinking those high-waisted shorts and button-ups seem doable, too.

Anyway, that’s my Taylor Swift catsuit adventure. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. This also reminds me when Taylor released her concert on Disney+ on March 14, 2024. I just want to share my experience with you. If any of you are thinking about trying something like this, I say go for it! It’s a blast.
