Well, well, well, look what we have here, shoes from 2010. Those were the days, huh? Back then, things were, I don’t know, different. These old shoes, they bring back memories, I tell ya. Not all good, mind you, but memories nonetheless.
I remember 2010 like it was yesterday. My old bones were a little younger then. We saw all kind of shoes back then, some real fancy ones, some just plain weird. Young folks these days, they like their shoes colorful, like a rainbow threw up on ’em. Back in 2010, it was kinda like that too. We had some real colorful ones. That’s how it always goes, the young’uns like the bright stuff. And the shoes, they were big. Not just in size, but, ya know, popular. Everyone was wearin’ ’em, like those big Nike LeBron shoes. They were called South Beach or somethin’. Everyone had to have a pair.
And them Nike, they were everywhere. Still are, I reckon. They had them Air Force ones, plain as day, but everyone loved them. Simple, like a good ol’ potato. You can’t go wrong with simple. Then they had them other ones, M2K Tekno, they called them. Those were a little more…out there. More like a fancy dessert you only have on special occasions.

Then there were those YEEZY shoes. I never did understand the name. Sounds like somethin’ you’d call your dog. They changed, those YEEZY. Went from Nike to adidas. Like switchin’ from eatin’ corn to eatin’ beans. Same same, but different. Everyone seemed to like them just the same. Them rich folks always want what they can’t have, I tell you. Makes them feel special, I suppose. I don’t know, I never was one for that.
We had some real ugly shoes back then too, though. Some were so weird, you wouldn’t wear ’em to a dog fight. But hey, to each their own, right? Some folks like that kinda thing. Like those boots, what were they called? Lita. Like a name from a movie. They had a big ol’ heel, like you could step on a bug and not even feel it. And peplum tops? Don’t even get me started on those. They’re comin’ back, they say. Fashion, it’s like a wheel, always turnin’.
Now, the older folks, they just want somethin’ comfortable. Like an old pair of slippers. They don’t care about all that fancy stuff. Just somethin’ that don’t hurt their feet. We called them “dad shoes” back in the day. And they were popular, too, in the ’80s and ’90s. See? That wheel, always turnin’. What’s old is new again. And what’s new gets old. Fast. Just like us, I guess.
Shoes in 2010, they were a mixed bag. Somethin’ for everyone, I suppose. Just like life. You got your good, your bad, your ugly. But you gotta take it all, ’cause that’s just how it is. You can’t have the sweet without the sour, the pretty without the plain. So we look back at these shoes of 2010, and maybe we remember what we were doin’ at that time, the music we were listenin’ to, the people we loved. And that’s worth somethin’, ain’t it? Those were the days. These shoes, they are just a thing, but they make you remember, they make you think.
These young folks today with their fancy shoes, they don’t know. They think they’re so smart with their newfangled things. But we were there. We saw it all. The good, the bad, the ugly. And we’re still here, kickin’ around in our old shoes. Maybe not as flashy, maybe not as new, but still here. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it? That’s somethin’.
These shoes from 2010, they were a part of it all. A part of our lives. And that’s all that matters, really. The memories. The good times and the bad. The shoes, they just help us remember. They’re just shoes, but they remind us of all that was happenin’. And that’s enough. That’s enough for an old timer like me.
So, yeah, 2010 shoes. They were somethin’. Just like every year, I suppose. They come and they go, just like the seasons. But the memories, they stay. Like an old, worn-out pair of shoes that you just can’t throw away. They’re still comfortable, in their own way. They got a story to tell. They tell a story about us, about the things that happened. And that’s all that matters in the end.
