Okay, so, I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff online lately about Sephora closing, and I got super curious. I mean, it’s like, one of my go-to places for makeup and skincare, so naturally, I had to get to the bottom of this.
First, I scrolled through TikTok, and guess what? I found this video that was blowing up, like 14 million views, talking about how Sephora and some other stores were supposedly donating to some political campaign. People were talking about a boycott, and it got me thinking, “Is this why they might be closing?”
Then I dug a little deeper. I read that Sephora actually pulled out of the Korean market. The article said they were losing money there for years. It was a bummer to hear that they’re closing up shop over there. It kinda made me wonder if they were struggling in other places, too.
And get this, I also found out that Sephora actually left the UK back in 2005! Apparently, they couldn’t keep up with the competition. But then they came back in 2023, and everyone was super hyped about it. It’s like, what’s the deal? Are they doing well or not?
From what I could gather, the US is Sephora’s biggest market. They’re doing pretty well in the US, and they did a deal with Kohl’s in 2021. I guess this did well for them.
