Okay, so I got it into my head that I needed an 80s power suit. You know, the kind with the massive shoulder pads, maybe a double-breasted jacket? I’d been seeing them all over Pinterest and vintage shops online, and I just felt this urge to try the look.
First, I hit up the usual online spots. You know, just browsing to see what was out there. I found some stuff, but a lot of it was either way too expensive, or just…not quite right. The color was off, the fit looked weird in the pictures, you know the drill.
So then I decided to get serious. I started researching vintage stores in my area. I figured that was my best bet for finding something authentic and, hopefully, affordable.
The Thrill of the Hunt
- I spent a whole Saturday afternoon going from store to store. It was kind of exhausting, honestly.
- Most places had, like, one sad-looking suit jacket tucked away in a corner. And it was always, like, ten sizes too big or falling apart.
- I almost gave up. Seriously, I was ready to just order something online and call it a day.
But then! I stumbled into this tiny little shop I’d never seen before. And there it was. Hanging right in the front, like it was waiting for me.
It was a navy blue, double-breasted suit. The jacket had those amazing, strong shoulders I was looking for. And – get this – it was actually my size! I tried it on, and oh my gosh. I felt like a total boss.
The pants were a little long, so I took them to a tailor to get them hemmed. That was an extra cost, but totally worth it. I paired my new 80’s suit with simple white * * I have the perfect 80s power suit!
I felt powerful in my suit,haha!
