Need a Wedding Band Case? Heres How to Choose!

by Marvin Connie

Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to make a wedding band case for a while now, ’cause, you know, those standard ring boxes are just so…blah. I wanted something unique, something that really screams “us.” And, I had this idea to use stainless steel with a 2B finish. Sounds fancy, right? It’s actually pretty common, gives this cool, silver-white look, and it’s super durable. Perfect for something that’s gonna hold our symbols of forever.

First things first, I got my hands on some stainless steel sheets. Finding them was a bit of a hunt, but nothing too crazy. I made sure to get the 2B finish ones, because that smooth, slightly reflective surface is just chef’s kiss. I also picked up a few tools I didn’t already have in my little workshop. I’m talking about a proper metal cutter, some heavy-duty adhesive, and a polishing kit to make that steel shine.

Getting to Work

With everything in front of me, I started by sketching out the design. I wanted it simple, but elegant. A small, rectangular case, with a secure, but easy-to-open lid. After finalizing the design, I measured everything out on the steel sheets. I double-checked all the measurements cause, you know, measure twice, cut once. Then, the scary part – I fired up the metal cutter.

  • Cut the steel pieces according to my sketch. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but satisfying to see the pieces take shape.
  • Filed down the edges to make sure everything was smooth. No sharp edges here!
  • Assembled the box. This is where the adhesive came in. It was a bit messy, but hey, who doesn’t love a little crafting mess?
  • Polished the whole thing once it was all put together. I wanted that 2B finish to really pop, and it did. The box looked amazing, if I do say so myself.

I also decided to line the inside of the box with some soft, velvet-like material. You know, to keep those precious rings safe and snug. I cut the material to size, glued it in, and voilà! The inside looked just as good as the outside.

The final touch? I found a tiny, elegant clasp to keep the lid shut. It was the perfect finishing touch. I attached the clasp, and that was it. My DIY wedding band case was done!

It was such a fun project. And the best part? It’s totally unique, made with love, and it holds our wedding bands perfectly. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of the journey we’re about to embark on. Plus, it looks pretty darn good on our dresser! I would say I will use it in the wedding.
