Okay, so I saw this crazy thing online about people turning Louis Vuitton bags into trash bins. I thought, “No way, that’s insane!” But then, I got curious. I mean, I don’t have a real Louis Vuitton bag just lying around, but I did have an old, beat-up, fake one that I got from a street vendor years ago. It was gathering dust in the closet, so I figured, why not try this out?
First, I emptied the bag. It had some old receipts and candy wrappers. Then I gave it a good wipe down, inside and out. It was pretty grimy, to be honest.
Next, I needed to figure out how to make it stand upright like a proper trash can. I found some stiff cardboard in the garage – leftover from a package, I think. I cut the cardboard into strips and taped them to the inside of the bag, creating a sort of makeshift frame. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked!

Then came the tricky part: making it look… well, less like a bag and more like a trash can. I rummaged through my craft supplies and found some silver spray paint. I took the bag outside and sprayed the whole thing. I did a couple of coats to make sure it was evenly * is important to make it evenly, I think.
After the paint dried, I added a plastic liner – just a regular kitchen trash bag – to keep things clean. And… that was it! My “Louis Vuitton” trash bin was complete.
The Result
Honestly, it looked kind of ridiculous, but in a fun way. It’s definitely a conversation starter. Would I do it with a real Louis Vuitton bag? Absolutely not! But with a cheap fake, it was a fun little project. It’s now sitting in my home office, holding my paper waste. A little bit of luxury for my trash, I guess!
