Yo, let me tell you about this little project I’ve been messing around with – customizing a pair of Air Force 1s inspired by Lil Yachty. I’ve been a fan of his style for a while, and I heard rumors about his “Concrete Boys” collab with Nike, so I thought, why not try to make my own version?
First, I grabbed a fresh pair of white Air Force 1s. The classic, you know? Then, I started looking at pictures of Yachty’s style and some leaked images of the supposed “Concrete Boys” design. I noticed a lot of patent leather and some bold colors, very playful, so I decided to go with that vibe.
I hit up the local craft store and picked up some acrylic leather paint, specifically a set of bright, eye-catching colors. I also snagged some finisher to make sure the paint job would last. Then, the real fun began.
- I started by carefully taping off the areas I didn’t want to paint, like the midsole and the Swoosh.
- Then I went in with the paint. I mixed and matched colors, trying to capture that vibrant, almost cartoonish look that Yachty is known for.
- I added some details, some little accents here and there, just to make them pop. Some parts got a coat of shiny patent look, others stayed matte.
- Once the paint was dry, I applied a few coats of finisher to seal everything in.
The whole process took me a couple of days, working on and off. I wasn’t rushing it, you know? I wanted to make sure I got it right, or as close to right as I could get it. It’s not an exact replica of the “Concrete Boys” design – I heard those are dropping in Summer 2025, and I’m hyped for that. And I heard they are launching via raffles on End, SNS, Footpatrol, BSTN, those kind of stores, and with a price of 120 bucks. But it’s my own take on it, my own little tribute to Yachty’s style.
And you know what? I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. They’re definitely unique, and they’re definitely loud. Just like Yachty. It was a fun little project, and it got me even more excited for the official release. I might even try to cop a pair of the real “Concrete Boys” when they drop, just to compare them to my custom job. I think I did alright, though!
