Okay, so I’ve been seeing “Layton” by Parfums de Marly all over my TikTok, and I finally caved. I’m a sucker for a good, warm, spicy scent, especially heading into fall, so I figured, why not? Let’s see what the hype is about.

First, I ordered a sample. No way was I dropping serious cash on a full bottle without sniffing it first. Smart move, always. The sample arrived, and my first impression? Fancy. Even the little vial felt luxurious.
The First Sniff
I spritzed a tiny bit on my wrist, and… whoa. It’s definitely strong. Like, one spray is plenty. My initial reaction was, “This is interesting…” It’s sweet, but not in a sugary, candy-like way. More like a warm, spicy sweetness. I definitely got the vanilla and apple right away, and then something a little bit… peppery?
I let it sit on my skin for a few minutes, and that’s when things started to get really good. The initial blast calmed down, and I started to smell the other notes: lavender, a little bit of woodiness, and something almost… creamy?
The Wear Test
- Morning: Applied one spray to my wrist before heading out for errands.
- Afternoon: Still going strong! I could definitely smell it, and I even got a compliment from the cashier at the grocery store. (“You smell amazing! What is that?”) Score!
- Evening: It had faded a bit, but it was still there – a soft, warm, slightly spicy scent. Very cozy.
My Thoughts
Okay, so after wearing Layton for a full day, I’m impressed. It’s definitely a “grown-up” fragrance. Sophisticated, but not stuffy. It’s warm and inviting, perfect for cooler weather. It also lasts a long time, which is a huge plus. I’m a working lady so I love that it lasted all day!
Would I buy a full bottle? Honestly, I’m leaning towards yes. It’s a bit of a splurge, but I think it’s worth it. It’s a unique scent that I can see myself wearing a lot, especially in the fall and winter. It feels like a warm hug in a bottle. A very expensive, very fancy hug. I even put on just a little bit when I was going to bed- it was that good. I’m obsessed!
