Well, let me tell you somethin’. This old body ain’t what it used to be. But I heard tell that movin’ your fingers and toes around can do ya some good. Keep things workin’ like they should, ya know? So, I started doin’ some of these things, and I reckon it ain’t half bad.

First thing, you gotta get those fingers movin’. Just like pickin’ beans from the garden, but without the beans. You pinch your thumb and your…pointy finger together. Back and forth, back and forth. Like you’re countin’ somethin’ important, but there ain’t nothin’ there. Just air. Keep them other fingers outta the way. They can rest for now.
- Thumb and pointy finger, pinch ’em.
- Keep doin’ it, over and over.
- Other fingers, just let ’em hang loose.
Then, you gotta wake up them little things in your hands and feet. They call ’em…pro…pro somethin’ or other. Don’t rightly remember. Fancy word for somethin’ simple, I reckon. Just means you gotta get ’em movin’, feelin’ things again. Like when you’re walkin’ barefoot in the grass, you feel all them little blades ticklin’ your toes? That’s what you’re aimin’ for. Gotta wake ’em up!
Now, for the toes. This one’s a bit trickier, especially when you got a bit of a belly like I do. You gotta put your fingers between your toes. Yeah, you heard me right. It’s like you’re weavin’ a basket, but with your own body parts. Sounds crazy, but it works. Stretches out them toes, makes ’em feel alive again. Like little piggies wiggling in the mud. It’s important, I tell ya. If you wanna keep walking without stumbling, you better get those toes working right! It is a good finger to toe stretch!
- Sit down if you have to.
- Put your fingers between your toes.
- Wiggle ’em around.
- Feel that stretch!
Then there’s standin’ up. Stand up tall, like a sunflower reachin’ for the sun. Keep your feet apart, not too close, not too far. Just like when you are planting finger to toe, you need some room to work with. This helps ya balance. You don’t wanna be toppling over like a scarecrow in the wind. And it is good for finger 2 toe.
Then you gotta try to touch your toes. Now, I ain’t sayin’ everyone can do it. My back ain’t as bendy as it used to be. But you try your best. Bend at the waist, like you’re bowin’ to the queen. Keep your legs straight if you can, but a little bend in the knees ain’t gonna hurt nobody. Reach down, down, down towards them toes. Feel that pull in the back of your legs? That’s a good thing. Means you’re stretchin’ them muscles. Keeps ’em from gettin’ all stiff and achy. Finger to toe is easy.

- Stand up tall.
- Feet apart.
- Bend over.
- Try to touch your toes.
Another one is where you stand on one leg and hold your big toe. Now, this one’s a real test of balance. Like tryin’ to stand on a fence post in a windstorm. You gotta concentrate. Focus your eyes on somethin’ that ain’t movin’. Hold that toe tight, and lift that leg up. It’s like you’re a stork, standin’ in the pond, waitin’ for a fish. If you wanna add challenge, you can try to move your leg to the side. But don’t fall over. You are not a stork. It is good for finger to toe stretch.
And then there’s the bendin’ over one. Stand with your feet apart, arms up high, like you’re tryin’ to touch the sky. Then, bend your knees a little, and fold yourself over. Like a piece of paper gettin’ folded in half. Let your arms hang down, try to get your head close to your knees. Don’t worry if you can’t go all the way. Just do what you can. It’s all about keepin’ things movin’, keepin’ the blood flowin’, keepin’ those joints from gettin’ rusty. Finger 2 toe is useful.
So there you have it. Some simple things you can do to keep your fingers and toes happy. It ain’t gonna make you young again, but it might just help you feel a little bit better. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it? Just gotta keep movin’, keep stretchin’, keep them body parts workin’ the way they’re supposed to. It ain’t always easy, but it’s worth the effort. Trust me on that one. I learned about finger to toe exercise when I was young, and I am still doing it now. Now go on, get movin’!
