by Marvin Connie

Alright, so you wanna know about this Helzberg place, huh? Lemme tell ya what I heard. It’s some big jewelry store, been around since, shoot, 1915 they say. That’s a long time, even for an old woman like me. They sell diamonds and stuff, you know, the shiny things women like.

Where they at? Well, they got stores all over, like 210 of ’em in 36 states, last I heard. But the main place, the headquarters, that’s in North Kansas City, Missouri. Yep, right there in Missouri. You can even drive there, they got directions and all. Just put 1825 Swift Street, North Kansas City into that there map thingy on your phone, and it’ll take ya right there.

Now, who runs this whole shebang? Well, there was this fella, Morris Helzberg, started it all. Then his son, Barnett Helzberg Senior, took over when he was just a young’un, 14 years old they say! Can you believe that? A 14-year-old running a business! Times were different back then, I guess. Nowadays, them youngsters just play on their phones all day.

Then there was this woman, Beryl Raff, she was the big boss for a while. Big shot, you know, chairman and CEO. But now, in 2022, some other fella named Brad Hampton took over. So, it’s his show now. He’s the head honcho, making all the decisions.

  • Started in 1915 by Morris Helzberg
  • Headquarters in North Kansas City, Missouri
  • 210 stores in 36 states
  • Currently run by CEO Brad Hampton
  • Big company, part of Berkshire Hathaway, you know, that Warren Buffet fella’s company

And get this, this Helzberg company, it’s part of somethin’ bigger, somethin’ called Berkshire Hathaway. You heard of that? It’s that Warren Buffet guy’s company. Apparently, Barnett Helzberg bumped into him on the streets of New York City, imagine that! Just a regular fella, meetin’ a big shot like Warren Buffet. And that’s how Helzberg got hooked up with Berkshire Hathaway.

They say they got like, 2000 to 2500 people workin’ for them, and about 200 in the main office. That’s a lot of folks, ain’t it? They must be sellin’ a whole lotta diamonds to keep all them people busy.

Oh, and they pick out all their diamonds themselves, real careful like. They go to them international diamond markets and look at ’em real close. That way, they say they get the best ones and can sell ’em cheaper to us folks. Smart, I guess. But still, diamonds are expensive. Ain’t no gettin’ around that.

Wanna call ’em? You can, if you need to. The phone number for the main office is +1 (816) 842-7780. But what you gonna call ’em for? You plannin’ on buyin’ a big diamond? If you are, good for you. Just make sure you don’t get ripped off. There’s a lot of folks out there tryin’ to take advantage of old people and young people alike.

So, that’s the lowdown on Helzberg as far as I know it. A big jewelry company, been around a long time, run by different folks over the years, and sellin’ diamonds all over the country. Nothin’ too fancy, just business, you know? Now, you got any more questions, you ask ’em. I got all day.

They got a website too, but I ain’t too good with that computer stuff. You can probably find it if you look it up. Just search for Helzberg Diamonds, and it should pop up. They got pictures and all, if you wanna see what kinda jewelry they sell. But be careful, you might end up spendin’ all your money!

And another thing, folks in North Kansas City seem to like ’em. They say they’re a good business. So that’s somethin’, I guess. Always good to have the locals on your side.
