gt cut squidward Unboxing: See Whats Inside,Now!

Okay, so I was messing around with my new GT Cut, right? And I had this crazy idea: what if I could make them look like Squidward’s shoes? You know, from Spongebob? Sounds nuts, I know, but I was bored and felt like a challenge.

First, I grabbed a pair of all-white GT Cuts. Gotta have that blank canvas, you feel me? I figured white would be the easiest to work with. Then, I spent like an hour just staring at pictures of Squidward’s shoes online. They’re simple, but I wanted to get the color just right.

The Paint Job

I went to the local art store – felt kinda outta place, not gonna lie. I ended up getting some acrylic paint, the kind that’s supposed to stick to fabric and stuff. I picked out a brownish-tan color, the closest thing I could find to Squidward’s shoe color. I also grabbed some fine-tipped brushes, because, details, man, details.

  • First Attempt: Total fail. I tried to freehand the paint, and it looked… well, it looked like a toddler got a hold of my shoes. The lines were all wobbly, and the color was uneven. Ugh.
  • Second Attempt: Slightly better. I used some masking tape this time to get straighter lines. It was still kinda messy, but definitely an improvement. I realized I needed to do multiple thin coats instead of one thick one. Lesson learned.
  • Third Time’s the Charm (Almost): Okay, this is where things started to look decent. I applied like three thin coats of paint, letting each one dry completely before doing the next. The tape helped a lot with keeping the edges clean.

I also used a slightly darker brown, to do a very fine outline. Make it have that cardboad box color feel.

It wasn’t perfect, mind you. There were a few little smudges, and the color wasn’t 100% spot-on. But honestly, from a few feet away, they looked pretty darn good! They definitely had that Squidward vibe going on.

I wore them around the house, just to see how the paint would hold up. Seemed pretty durable, surprisingly. I wouldn’t go play a full-court game in them, but for just chilling? They’re perfect.

The whole thing was more about the process, the goofy experiment, than the end result. It was fun, a little frustrating, but ultimately, I ended up with a pair of custom kicks that nobody else has. And that’s pretty cool, right?
