Okay, so Halloween’s coming up, and I decided to go all out this year with a “Gold Digger” costume. I thought it would be funny and kinda clever. Here’s how I put it all together, step by step.
Brainstorming and Gathering
First, I brainstormed what a “gold digger” literally looks like. Obviously, I needed some gold and some digging tools. I decided to go for a playful, not-too-serious vibe.
- Checked my closet: I already had a plain black dress that could work as a base. Score!
- Shopped online and find one gold sequin * could be perfect.
- Hit up a local store: I found a cheap plastic shovel and a toy hard hat. Perfect!
- Ordered some gold spray paint online: I wanted to make sure the shovel and hat really popped.
Crafting the Costume
Once I had all the supplies, it was time to get crafty. This was the fun part!
- Sprayed the shovel and hard hat with the gold paint. I did this outside because, well, spray paint fumes. I let them dry overnight.
- Tried on the black dress and gold sequin top to see how they looked together. Needed a little something extra.
- Added some gold jewelry I already owned – big hoop earrings and a chunky necklace. Bling bling!
- Considered adding some fake dollar bills, but decided it might be overkill. I wanted to keep it somewhat classy (as classy as a gold digger costume can be, anyway).
The Final Touches
The day before Halloween, I did a final run-through to make sure everything was perfect.
- Dress and gold sequin top, check.
- Put on the gold-painted hard hat and grabbed the gold shovel.
- Practiced my best “I’m here for the gold” pose in the mirror. Nailed it!
- Gold hard hat and shovel,Check.
- All Gold accessories, check.
And that’s it! My Gold Digger costume was ready to go. It was pretty easy to put together, and I got a lot of laughs at the party. Plus, I didn’t have to spend a ton of money, which is always a win. I think my friends love this style.I got a few compliments at the party, mission accomplished.
