Okay, here is my sharing about Sassicaia:
So, I heard about this wine, Sassicaia, seems like it’s a big deal. I did some digging, and man, this stuff is famous! It is one of the most iconic Italian wines! I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so I decided to dive in and get my hands on a bottle. They say the 2019 vintage is pretty awesome, with a score of 98 from Wine Advocate. Sounds good, right? That is the third-best one in Sassicaia history!
First, I hit up a few wine shops in my area. Browsing through the shelves, I asked around about Sassicaia, trying to get a feel for which vintages were available and which ones people were raving about. The folks at the shops were helpful, pointing me to a few options.
After checking out a couple of places, I compared prices and availability. No luck! I can’t find the 2019 vintage! There’s one shop that had a batch of the 2021 Sassicaia. But, I did a little research on vintages. It looks like 2020 was a warm year for Tuscany, but Sassicaia’s Tenuta San Guido is great at handling that. It mentions something about “world-class winemaking allied to draconian selection.” Maybe I will try the 2020 vintage?
Since I couldn’t find the 2019 vintage, I tried to figure out what else I could get. I saw some charts about Sassicaia’s vintages, which helped me narrow down my choices. It’s like a guide to choosing the best years for this wine. Based on the charts, 2020 seems pretty decent, so I grabbed a bottle of the 2020 Sassicaia. I just gave it a shot!
Finally, I popped open the bottle with some friends. We poured it into our glasses, gave it a swirl, and took a whiff. The aroma was pretty intense, and the taste? I gotta say, it lived up to the hype. It’s smooth, rich, and has this complex flavor that’s hard to describe. You know what? It is a “Bordeaux blend.” Now I understand why everyone talks about Sassicaia!
- Checked out local wine shops for Sassicaia vintages.
- Compared prices and availability, but couldn’t find the 2019 vintage.
- Tried 2020 vintage based on the vintages chart.
- Enjoyed the 2020 Sassicaia with friends.
Overall, it was a fun experience exploring the world of Sassicaia. I get why it’s called a “modern classic.” From zero to hero in just 50 years! I think I’ll be trying more vintages in the future. Cheers to that!
