Okay, so I tried out that “eyeliner no mascara” look that’s been all over my feed lately. I gotta say, I was kinda skeptical at first, but I’m always up for trying something new, right?

Getting Started
First, I grabbed my usual neutral eyeshadow palette. I didn’t want anything too crazy, just some soft browns and beige tones. I dusted a light shade all over my lid and used a slightly darker one in my crease to add some dimension.
- Picked out a neutral palette
- Used a light shade on the lid
- Added a darker shade to the crease
The Eyeliner Part
Now for the eyeliner, which is the star of the show. Instead of my usual thick wing, I went for a really thin line, as close to my lashes as humanly possible. I heard that liquid eyeliner is the best for this but, you know, I’m more of a pencil girl. I used my trusty long-wearing pencil liner. I tried to keep it super tight to the lash line, and honestly, it was a bit of a struggle. My hands are not the steadiest, I’ll admit.
- Used a long-wearing pencil liner
- Drew a thin line close to the lashes
- Struggled a bit with shaky hands
Skipping the Mascara
This was the weirdest part for me – no mascara! I felt so naked without it. But I powered through. The idea is that the eyeliner makes your lashes look thicker, so you don’t need mascara. I guess it kinda worked? I mean, my eyes did look more defined, but I definitely missed that extra oomph that mascara gives.
- Skipped mascara (felt weird!)
- Eyeliner supposed to make lashes look thicker
- Missed the mascara, but it did look defined
The Final Verdict
So, after all that, did I love the look? Honestly, it’s not my favorite. It’s definitely more subtle than what I usually go for. But I can see why some people would dig it. It’s a nice, natural-ish look, and it’s pretty easy to do (if you have steadier hands than me, that is). I don’t think I’ll be rocking this every day, but maybe for those days when I want something super low-key. Learned something new, I suppose, but I think I’ll stick with my mascara most of the time.
- Not my absolute favorite look
- It’s subtle and natural-ish
- Good for a low-key day, maybe
- Sticking with mascara, usually!
That’s my little experiment. Anyone else tried this no-mascara thing? What did you think?
