Experience Loro Piana NYC on Madison: Shop the Collection

Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Loro Piana place, sounds fancy, huh? It’s on some street called Madison, in a big city, New York City, I think they call it. Never been there myself, too busy with the chickens and the garden, ya know.

This Loro Piana, they sell clothes, but not the kind you find at the flea market, no sir. They say it’s “luxurious,” which I reckon means expensive. And “woolen,” so I guess they got sweaters and such, warm stuff for the winter. Probably not the itchy kind, though. My old man used to wear those itchy wool sweaters, complained all day, but kept him warm, bless his heart.

  • They got stuff for men and women, both. So, if your husband needs a new coat, or you wanna fancy up yourself, you could go there. If you got the money, that is.
  • They talk about “quality craftsmanship,” which I guess means they make things good. Like, the stitches don’t come undone after you wash it once. That’s important, you don’t wanna be wastin’ money on clothes that fall apart.

This store, it’s at 748 Madison Ave. Sounds like a big important address, doesn’t it? They got a phone number too, but I ain’t gonna write it down, you can look it up yourself if you’re so inclined. They even got a map, in case you get lost in that big city. I heard tell New York is a confusing place, all them tall buildings and cars everywhere. Gives me a headache just thinkin’ about it.

Now, they say this place is all about “timeless elegance.” I had to ask my granddaughter what that meant. She said it’s like stuff that don’t go out of style. You know, classic stuff. Not like those ripped jeans the kids wear these days, looks like they fell in a briar patch to me. So, I guess if you buy somethin’ from Loro Piana, you can wear it for years, maybe even pass it down to your grandkids. That’s good, if you’re spending that much money on clothes, it better last a while.

They got a bunch of big-shot designers on Madison Avenue, seems like everyone who’s anyone has a store there. Vera Wang, heard of her, she makes weddin’ dresses, I think. And that Prada, they make them fancy purses. This Loro Piana fits right in with all them fancy names. They say the store has been around since 1924. That’s a long time, even longer than I’ve been alive. Started by some fella named Pietro, sounds like a good Italian name.

And get this, they’re owned by some French company now, LVMH. Sounds complicated, don’t it? All these big companies buying up other companies. Hard to keep track. They probably makin’ a mint off them fancy clothes, I tell you what.

They even sell stuff online now. My granddaughter showed me their website. You can order stuff and they send it to your house. But I ain’t gonna be doin’ that. I like to feel the fabric before I buy it. And I don’t trust them computers, always glitchen’ out, just like my old TV. They say you can send it back if you don’t like it, but that sounds like a whole lot of trouble to me.

They had some new collection, somethin’ about cocooning. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds cozy. Like wrapping yourself in a big blanket. Maybe it’s them cashmere plaids they talk about. They say they got games printed on ‘em, chess and backgammon. Fancy that. You can play checkers while you stay warm. Seems a bit much for me, but I guess city folk have different ideas about how to spend their time.

So, there you have it. That’s what I know about Loro Piana. If you got a pocket full of cash and want some fancy clothes that last a long time, that’s the place to go. But me? I’ll stick with my old cotton dresses and my hand-knitted cardigans. They keep me warm just fine, and they don’t cost a fortune. But hey, to each their own, right?

And one last thing, they talk about “exotic” woolen apparel. Exotic? I don’t know what kind of wool is exotic. Maybe it’s from some fancy sheep in a far-off country. I bet them sheep eat better than I do. City folks, always makin’ things complicated.

Anyways, if you ever find yourself in New York City, and you happen to have a few thousand dollars burnin’ a hole in your pocket, you can go check out Loro Piana on Madison Avenue. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes, you’ll be doin’ a lot of walkin’ in that big city.
