DIY Debbie Harry Costume: Simple Steps to Blondie Style

Alright, alright, settle down now, y’all. We gonna talk about this… uh… Debbie Harry costume thing. Never heard of her myself, but the young’uns, they seem to like her. Sounds like some kinda fancy dress-up thing, like them Halloween costumes, ya know?

So, this Debbie girl, she’s from some band called… Blondie? Sounds like a dog’s name, but what do I know? Anyway, seems like folks wanna dress up like her. Well, I ain’t got no fancy patterns or nothin’, but I can tell ya how to put together a look, just like I used to throw together clothes for the kids when they were little. We didn’t have much, but we always made do, ya hear?

First off, she likes them bright colors, this Debbie gal. Think real bright, like them sunflowers in the field or that crazy pink flamingo them city folks put in their yards. Find yourself a plain top, ya know, a shirt. Don’t matter if it’s new or old, just make sure it’s bright. Then, you gotta cinch it in at the waist. Use a belt, any old belt will do. Or even a piece of rope if you’re in a pinch. We used to use twine for everything back in the day, held up our pants and everything!

Now, for the bottoms, she wears these… leggings, they call ‘em. Like them stretchy pants the kids wear. Put them on under some… uh… three-quarter length pants? Sounds kinda silly to me, but that’s what they say. If you don’t got that kinda pants, just find some old jeans and cut ‘em off. Ain’t gotta be perfect, just good enough to get the job done. We used to cut up old clothes all the time, make ‘em last longer.

  • Bright tops: Think real bright colors, like red, yellow, blue. The brighter, the better, I reckon.
  • Belts: Any kind of belt will work, even a piece of rope or twine. Just something to cinch in that waist.
  • Leggings and 3/4 pants: Or just cut off some old jeans, that’ll work just fine.

Now, this Debbie girl, she likes some sparkle too. Sequins, they call ‘em. Shiny little things. If you got a dress with sequins, that’ll work. Or you can glue some on a shirt or somethin’. Just be careful not to glue your fingers together, like that time I tried to fix the kids’ shoes… oh, never mind that story. And she likes ripped-up jeans too, those “distressed” jeans the youngsters pay good money for these days. We used to get them “distressed” just by workin’ hard! You can rip up some old jeans yourself, just take some scissors and go to town.

And don’t forget the jackets! Leather jackets, she likes those. Or even just a jean jacket will do. And sunglasses, big black ones. Makes you look all mysterious and cool, I guess. We used to wear sunglasses to keep the sun out of our eyes when we were workin’ in the fields.

Now, about that hair. This Debbie’s hair is all… shaggy, they say. Kinda messy looking. If you got long hair, just mess it up a bit. Tease it, they call it. Like you’re tryin’ to get a bird’s nest out of it. And makeup? Well, I don’t know much about that fancy stuff. But I heard she likes bold colors on her eyes and lips. Just slap some on, I guess. Ain’t gotta be perfect.

So, there ya have it. A Debbie Harry costume, made easy. Ain’t no need to go spendin’ a bunch of money on fancy store-bought stuff. Just use what you got, be creative, and have fun. That’s what we always did, and we always made it work. And remember, it ain’t about lookin’ perfect, it’s about feelin’ good and havin’ a good time. Just like when we used to have them barn dances back in the day. We didn’t have much, but we always had a good time.

One more thing, they say this Debbie girl mixes prints too. Like, she might wear a shirt with flowers and pants with stripes or somethin’. Sounds kinda crazy to me, but I guess that’s the style. So if you feelin’ bold, go ahead and mix it up! And don’t forget to have fun with it! That’s the most important part.
