Hey everyone, today I want to share with you my little adventure in making my own watch. I’ve always been into watches, but I never really thought I could make one myself. Turns out, it’s not as hard as it seems, though it did take a lot of time and effort!
Getting Started
First off, I hit the internet to find some inspiration and figure out what I needed. I found out that watchmaking school usually takes about 2-4 years. But I am just a hobbyist, so I just grabbed some basic tools and materials online. I’m not trying to become a professional, just wanted to see if I could put together a working watch.
Choosing the Parts
The first thing I needed was a watch face. I spent hours browsing through different styles and finally picked one that I really liked. It wasn’t too fancy, but it had that classic look I was going for. It also needs to be functional and not too complicated to put together. Then came the fun part – choosing the beads! I wanted something unique, so I mixed and matched different colors and sizes until I found the perfect combo.
Putting it Together
With all my parts ready, it was time to start assembling the watch. I won’t lie, this part was a bit tricky. I watched a bunch of videos online to get an idea of how to do it. It involved a lot of tiny screws and delicate pieces, so I had to be super careful. It takes me a really long time to carefully put things together. My hands were shaking a bit, but I managed to get everything in place. I used beads to make the watch strap. It is the easiest part of the whole process.
The Moment of Truth
Finally, after hours of work, it was time to see if my watch actually worked. I carefully set the time and put it on my wrist. I held my breath and waited…and then, it started ticking! I couldn’t believe it, I actually made a working watch! It was such a satisfying feeling to see all my hard work pay off.
Wrapping Up
Making my own watch was a really cool experience. It took a lot of patience and effort, but it was totally worth it in the end. I learned a lot about how watches work and gained a new appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into making them. Plus, I now have a one-of-a-kind watch that I can proudly say I made myself!
