Okay, so, a while back, I got this itch to get one of those Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch watches. You know, the ones that caused a frenzy when they first came out? Yeah, those.
First, I started doing some digging. It turns out these watches are only sold at certain Swatch stores. Bummer, right? But, I found a store locator on their website and, luckily, there was one not too far from me.
Then, I saw this picture of Daniel Craig, the James Bond guy, wearing a MoonSwatch. That dude can make anything look good, but the watch genuinely looked awesome on his wrist. I’ve seen him wearing those fancy Omega watches, especially the Seamaster ones. He wore one when he played James Bond, and he had another one on when he was that detective in that movie. Fancy!
So, the picture of him wearing this seemingly more available Swatch got me even more interested. I mean, if it’s good enough for James Bond, it’s good enough for me, right?
Next, I read somewhere that they were limiting purchases to one watch per person per day. Made sense, given the hype. But I wasn’t planning on buying more than one anyway.
Finally, I decided to just go for it. I drove down to the Swatch store, waited in a little bit of a line, and… I got one! It wasn’t as crazy as when they first launched, but there were still a few people there for the same reason. The whole thing reminded me of how much buzz there was back in 2022 when these MoonSwatches first dropped. It was like, a collaboration between Swatch and Omega, making it both affordable and having that cool Speedmaster design.
It was a bit of a process, I admit, and not the kind of thing you’d wear with a fancy tuxedo to some big Hollywood event. But, I was after a casual, everyday piece and this fit the bill.
And here it is. I’ve been wearing it for a while now, and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s a cool watch with a bit of a story, and hey, it even got the Daniel Craig stamp of approval, even though he is mostly seen with an Omega watch!
