Okay, so I wanted to get in on this whole “consumer guru” thing on TikTok. I kept seeing videos popping up on my For You page, and it looked like something I could probably figure out. Here’s how it all went down.
First Steps: The Idea
First, I spent like a week just watching tons of these “consumer guru” TikToks. Just trying to get a feel for what people were doing. You know, what kind of products they were reviewing, how they were presenting them, the whole vibe.
Getting My Hands Dirty: Picking a Product
I decided to start simple. No need to go crazy right off the bat. I picked a water bottle I already owned – one of those fancy insulated ones. Figured it was something I knew pretty well and could talk about honestly.
Lights, Camera, Action… Kind Of: Filming
This was the tricky part. I don’t have any fancy equipment, just my phone. I propped it up on a stack of books, found some decent lighting near a window, and started talking. It took a few tries, honestly. I kept messing up my words or the lighting would be weird. I have done many retakes to slove the problems!
- Take one: The cat jumped on the table.
- Take two: I rambled on for too long.
- Take three: My phone rang. Ugh.
Eventually, I got a take I was মোটামুটি happy with. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough for a first try.
Making it Look Decent: Editing
I downloaded a free video editing app on my phone. Nothing fancy, just something to trim the beginning and end, and maybe add some text. I played around with it for a while, added some captions, and a silly background music track I found on TikTok * the tiktok has lots of free music for the users, I find it is really useful and user-friendly!

Fingers Crossed: Posting
This was it. I wrote a quick caption, added some relevant hashtags like #waterbottle #review #consumerguru (obviously), and hit “post.” Then I waited.
The Results: Not Viral, But Not Bad
Okay, so it didn’t go viral. I got a few likes and a couple of comments. Not exactly influencer status, but hey, it was a start! I learned it won’t be easy, but I did it. I will keep doing it!
It was a fun little experiment. I definitely learned a lot about the process, and I’m already thinking about what product I’ll review next. Maybe something a little more exciting than a water bottle… We’ll see!
