Okay, so, let me tell you about this little project I got into. I’ve always been a fan of Coach. Their stuff is just classic, you know? And I saw this green bag online the other day, and I just thought, “I gotta have it.” But then I saw it had no tassel, and I just knew it needed one. So I decided to make one myself.

First off, I started looking around for some materials. I found some green leather scraps that I had lying around from another project. It was just the right shade to match the bag, I was so stoked! Then I dug through my craft box and found some matching thread and a sturdy needle. I also grabbed a pair of scissors, a ruler, and a little bit of glue for good measure. I laid out the leather and started to cut it into thin strips, but I had to do it several times to get the length and width that I wanted. I think I made around 20 strips, maybe more. I wanted the tassel to be nice and full.
Then it was time to get stitching. I grouped the strips together and started sewing them tightly at one end. I went over it a bunch of times to make sure it was really secure. You don’t want your tassel falling apart, right? After that, I trimmed the ends of the strips to make them all even. I had to be careful with this part. A few snips too many, and I could ruin it. Last thing I wanted was a wonky-looking tassel. I wanted it to look good, so I took my time. Also I fold some leather to make a loop, to make it easier to hang on the bag.
- Cut the leather into strips.
- Sew the strips together.
- Trim the ends.
- Glue on a loop.
The last step was to attach the loop to the bag. I used a bit of glue to secure it in place. I just dabbed a little on the inside of the loop and pressed it onto the bag’s hardware. Then, I let it dry for a few hours to make sure it was really stuck on there. And let me tell you, it turned out pretty darn good! It adds just the right amount of flair to the bag, and it matches perfectly. It’s like the bag was always meant to have a tassel.
I’m really happy with how it turned out. It was a fun little project, and it didn’t take too long to do. Plus, it saved me some money. Those Coach tassels can be pricey! Now, I’ve got a unique, customized bag that I love even more. And it fits right under my arm. If you’re thinking about adding a tassel to your bag, I say go for it! It’s a great way to personalize your stuff and show off your style. You know, it is a classic luxury leather goods.
My own green bag tassel!
I wore it out the other day, and I got so many compliments! Everyone wanted to know where I got it. It felt good to say I made it myself. It’s a great conversation starter, for sure. Next time you see a bag that you think needs a little something extra, don’t be afraid to try making your own tassel. You might surprise yourself with what you can create! Just remember, take your time, be patient, and have fun with it. And who knows, you might just end up with a new favorite accessory, just like I did.
