Citizen GMT Eco-Drive : The Ultimate Travel Watch?

Okay, here’s my take on the “Citizen GMT” experience, written in a casual, blog-like style:

Citizen GMT Eco-Drive : The Ultimate Travel Watch?

So, I’ve been eyeing a good travel watch for a while. Something that wouldn’t break the bank, but looked decent and, you know, actually told me the time in another timezone without me having to do mental gymnastics. I stumbled upon some chatter about the Citizen GMTs and thought, “Why not?”

First thing I did was hit up the usual spots – watch forums, some online shops, just to get a feel for the different models and prices. It’s a bit overwhelming at first, there’s like a bunch of variations. Different colors, bracelet styles, you name it.

After a bit of digging, I narrowed it down to one that I really liked. The one with the black and blue bezel. Looked pretty sharp! I found a seller that had it in stock and, well, I pulled the trigger. Yeah, impulse buy, maybe, but whatever.

The waiting game was the worst. You know, constantly refreshing the tracking page, picturing the watch on your wrist. Finally, it arrived! Unboxing it was pretty satisfying, I gotta admit. The watch felt solid, hefty, but not overly bulky. It sat pretty comfortably on my wrist.

Next, I messed around with setting the time and that GMT hand. The instruction manual was a little…dense. But I figured it out eventually. It’s actually really simple once you get the hang of it. Basically, you pull the crown out to a certain position, and you can independently move that GMT hand. So, I set the main hands to my local time, and the GMT hand to, let’s say, London time. Done!

Getting Used To It

  • First day wearing it, I kept glancing at it, checking the time in London even though I didn’t need to. Just because I could.
  • The lume is pretty good, too. It glows nicely in the dark, which is handy.
  • Got some accidental wrist rolls, and I think a few people noticed the two-tone bezel. Got a few compliments too.

It’s been a few weeks now, and I’m really liking it. It’s become my daily wear. It’s accurate, it’s good-looking, and it does exactly what I need it to do. Plus, it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Overall, I’d say it was a successful mission. If you’re looking for a solid, affordable GMT watch, you might want to give the Citizen ones a look.
