Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with getting that effortless, “I just spent a week in Saint-Tropez” look. You know, that sun-kissed, slightly beachy, but still totally chic vibe? I figured, who better to emulate than Chanel? They practically invented the Saint-Tropez aesthetic. So, I embarked on a little experiment, which I’m calling “Chanel Saint-Tropez”.

My Starting Point
First, I needed some inspiration. I scoured the internet for images of Chanel fashion shows, campaigns, and even old photos of Coco Chanel herself in the South of France. I noticed a few recurring themes:
- Stripes: Lots of classic Breton stripes, both in navy and white and sometimes red and white.
- White: Crisp white dresses, pants, and tops. Everything looked fresh and clean.
- Loose Silhouettes: Nothing too tight or constricting. Think flowing fabrics and relaxed fits.
- Simple Accessories: Straw hats, espadrilles, maybe a simple chain belt or a delicate necklace.
- Natural Makeup: Glowing skin, a touch of bronzer, and maybe a swipe of red lipstick.
The Experiment Begins
I raided my closet (and did a little online shopping, I confess) to find pieces that fit the bill. I already had a navy and white striped shirt, which was a good start. I also found a pair of wide-leg white linen pants that I’d forgotten about.
Next, I experimented with different combinations. I tried the striped shirt with the white pants, tucked in and belted with a thin brown leather belt. I also tried a simple white cotton dress with a pair of flat sandals. I even attempted to tie a silk scarf around my head, but that ended up looking more “I Love Lucy” than “Chanel.”
The Makeup Factor
I am not the pro,but I have some basic skills.
I kept the makeup minimal. I used a tinted moisturizer, a little bit of bronzer on my cheekbones, and a nude lipstick. I skipped the eyeliner and mascara, opting for a more natural look.I applied some basic skills that I learned from YouTube before.

The Verdict
Honestly, it was easier than I thought! I realized that the key is to keep things simple and effortless. It’s not about wearing head-to-toe Chanel (although that would be nice!), it’s about capturing the spirit of the brand. The loose, comfortable clothes made me feel relaxed and confident, and the minimal makeup made me feel fresh-faced and natural. I feel like the best look I achieved was a simple one.
I definitely recommend giving this a try if you’re looking for a chic and easy summer style. It’s all about embracing simplicity and feeling good in your own skin (and clothes!).
